Highlights of the activities our National Advisory Board (NAB) and IIN (Impact Investing Network) team have been involved in over the last month.
Toitū Tahua, the Centre for Sustainable Finance launches
Toitū Tahua, the Centre for Sustainable Finance has launched to implement the Sustainable Finance Forum’s (SFF) 2030 Roadmap for Action. Read more and watch video.
David Woods and John McCarthy, as well as being NAB members, are part of the SFF Leadership Group that were integral to the formation of Toitū Tahua, the Centre for Sustainable Finance.
The NAB and IIN aims to work alongside Toitū Tahua, the Centre for Sustainable Finance, to ensure impact investing contributes to a sustainable finance system.

Ākina Impact Investment Readiness Programme - Apply
Calling impact-driven businesses with big plans to scale their business and social or environmental impact! The Ākina Foundation's Impact Investment Readiness Programme offers up to $30,000 for professional support services to help businesses get investment ready.
Applications are open and assessed on a rolling basis. Based on the high level of interest already and in previous years, get your application in before the $275,000 is allocated.
The programme is supported by Kiwibank, The Tindall Foundation, WEL Energy Trust, Foundation North, Rotary Club of Wellington.

The Gift Trust Making Good Happen - Auckland
Our friends at The Gift Trust are hosting a free event in Auckland on Wednesday 11 August, 5:30pm- 7:30pm. Green wins Gold (Awards)
It's wasn't in the Olympics however two impact investment funded enterprises struck gold at the Wellington Gold Awards. Little Yellow Bird, an ethical apparel maker won the Green Gold, and CoGo, a technology platform that helps conscious consumers and businesses make positive social and/or environmental purchase decisions won Innovation Gold. NZGIF - what a difference $300m makes
The NZGIF (New Zealand Green Investment Finance) received an additional $300m in this year's Budget. Craig Weise, NZGIF's CEO, says the bigger balance sheet allows his organisation to not only get more capital into low carbon activities. In addition, it enables NZGIF to think expand its role, for example directing investments to decarbonise sectors such as public transport, waste and plastic. Read more.
Sustainable finance moving into mainstream - ANZ research
A fourth annual poll conducted by ANZ and FinanceAsia showed an increasing demand by investors for sustainable finance knowledge, reporting and research capability. 51% of surveyed investors now have dedicated in-house research capability in Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) or Socially Responsible Investing (SRI), compared with 44% in 2020 and 31% in 2019. GSG leading the UK Government's Impact Taskforce
The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) and Impacting Investing Institute is leading an Impact Taskforce (ITF) set up by the UK government. The ITF's purpose is to drive the role of impact investments in the COVID recovery, develop globally accepted impact standards and make recommendations on impact transparency, integrity, and trust. - Impact performance: Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR) explores the need for impact investing to move from a fixed to growth mindset. To move from impact being something that is fixed (proven once), to a continuous 'impact performance' mindset that treats data as dynamic and acknowledges that each intervention has a different impact in each place and each moment in time. - GSG Global Impact Summit (online): The GSG is hosting the Global Impact Summit focused on delivering impact solutions for people and planet. Held online over 6-8 October it will involve 200+ speakers, 1,500 participants and 75 countries from the global impact investing community. Register.
- Sustainable Development Goals - Scaling for impact (online): Menzies Foundation and University of Melbourne are hosting a free webinar on Wednesday 18 August. The keynote will be delivered by Paul Tracey, Professor of Innovation & Organisation and Co-Director of the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation at Cambridge University. A global panel will respond to Paul’s oration with a particular focus on the important role impact investment can play in reaching the SDG goals. Register.
