Greetings from the Chair

Congratulations to Jake on winning the race for U.S. Representative for CD6.

It seems like we have been going from one election to the next these past 2 1/2 years, and now we have another one to replace State Representative Jake Ellzey, who is now our U.S. Congressman.  This election will be another jungle primary with both Republicans and Democrats running on the same ballot.  It could be held as quickly as the end of August.  I know a lot of people are going on vacations and getting ready for school, but this race is important because of the special sessions and redistricting.  We need our representative to be there to represent us.  We need a strong leader to make sure our interests are made known.

It is budget time in Ellis County.  We need to pay attention to what is going on in our county, cities, and school boards as they decide how our taxes are spent.  As we all know, Ellis County is growing, and we need to be wise in how we grow so we do not loose the quality of life we all came here for.  I know it takes time to go to your city, school board, and county meetings, but if everyone was involved and informed their neighbors, we would have an informed citizenry.  Informed citizens make for a better government and preserve our liberty.  Freedom is not free; it costs time and money.  I know most people have more time than money, so show up at commissioners’ court, school board meetings, and city council meetings.  Let’s take back our government.

See you at our next meeting on Tuesday, August 3 at 6:30PM in the Champion Club at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.

Respect Midlothian 1888

Respect Midlothian 1888 has been hitting headlines across DFW on social media and in the news. Another Grassroots movement that has, yet again, been villainized by the drive-by media. The group was birthed out of a group of parents in Midlothian ISD reclaiming traditional educational values over Critical Race Theory and Social and Emotional Learning. While extremist groups like BLM and extremist social media outlets like Smash da Topic slander the people in this group as racists, this could not be further from the truth. In speaking with one of the leads in Respect Midlothian 1888, Monica Mote, informed of one of the goals of the group in which the public has been misled, thanks to the mainstream media, as racist, is the goal to terminate the DEI position in Midlothian ISD. According to official documentation received from Midlothian ISD via open records requests, it appears the current employee that holds the position was the least qualified of the seven candidates applying for the position. To Mote and the rest of the movement, they simply want the administration and the HR to be held accountable to their employee handbook in regards to the hiring process and in particular of the DEI position in Midlothian ISD.

The public can find out more about Respect Midlothian 1888 on their website.

A new law that took effect on June 16, 2021, gives parents more say in their children’s education in combatting the deficits caused by the past school year. Now, parents may decide to hold back students who did not learn enough during the past year.
Parents seeking to hold their child back a grade must notify the school district in writing before the school year starts. This program is limited to the 2021-22 school year for students in fourth grade and up. The option is permanent for parents of pre-K through third-grade students if they feel their children need an extra year to learn.

Should Democrats be in the position of Chairs for Committee assignments in a Republican Controlled House? An opinion piece by Kathy Ponce

That is a question that everyone should ask themselves. It is a question that has been answered by many in the Republican House over and over. They say yes. They say that is how it has always been. They even say that if and when the Texas State House were  to go blue that House Republicans would expect the same acknowledgement from the Democrats as they have given to those Democrats in regards to Chair assignments.

Have we not truly seen the intentions of the Texas Democrats in their recent stunt of bailing the state and seeking refuge in, of all places, DC?
Have you not seen the Texas Democrats testify in DC for the Federal takeover of the elections?
The Texas Democrats have no intention of ever working with us....and they will undoubtedly never give us important Committee Chair positions.

This is not the first time Texas Democrats walked out of a session. In 2003 Texas Senate walked out of the Texas Redistricting session. Yet here we are again dealing with the same drama. Why? Because we keep doing things the same way. Doing things the same over and over and expecting something to go differently is the definition of stupidity.

In a recent Twitter discussion numerous New Mexico lawmakers were shocked that Texas allowed Democrats to Chair Committees.
I ask you to research just how many Red States, with a Red majority in both state houses, allow Democrats to Chair Committees.

Politics is ever evolving....if we do not evolve then we become stagnant. After 19 years of having control of both state houses I say the time for change is now.

Democrats should no longer be Chairs of Committees.
What do you think?
HD 10, Let's Do It Again

You know I was thinking, we haven't had a good election in Ellis County in a while...oh wait...
With newly elected Congressman of CD6, Jake Ellzey (congratulations), he will vacate his seat in the Texas House which will throw us into another special election. We cannot get campaign fatigue as the HD10 race will certainly be another hot race in the county. With names and intentions being thrown around not even minutes after Mr. Ellzey claimed victory on Tuesday night, it remains integral these candidates are vetted and held accountable. Residency and roots should not automatically give a candidate the best resume for the job. You hear me candidates?  What is your platform? What will you do in Austin to protect liberty and freedom? How will you have Ellis and Navarro County lead in Texas? How will you have Texas lead in the Nation? You may be from Ellis County, but do you hold the Conservative Grassroots values in which we can be confident you will represent us and our values well in Austin? As for constituents we must dubiously and with special regard and intent, once again, get our neighbors, friends, and families out to vote for HD10.
It's always election season here in Ellis County.

In 1964 the presidential election that returned LBJ to the Whitehouse set a new election record with the most Electoral College votes (486) won by a major-party candidate running for the White House for the first time with Barry Goldwater receiving only 52. Many political observers attributed this crushing defeat for the GOP to the prominent personal attacks on Goldwater during the primary.
The 1964 election results left an indelible mark on Ronald Reagan who was preparing to run for governor. Two years later the GOP primary for California governor saw Ronald Reagan and George Christopher competing for the nomination.  The primary race was marred early on with a flurry of personal attacks by Christopher and his supporters on Reagan. In Ronald Reagan's 1990 autobiography he writes "The personal attacks against me during the primary finally became so heavy that the state Republican chairman, Gaylord Parkinson, postulated what he called the Eleventh Commandment: Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican. It's a rule I followed during that campaign and have ever since." Coincidentally LBJ's first-time electoral count record was exceeded when Ronald Reagan drubbed Jimmy Carter with 489 electoral votes in 1980.
As the Communications & Marketing Chair, I encourage you all to continue to work hard for the candidates of your choice but try to always remember that "Eleventh Commandment".
