The Mayor's Pick of the Week: Meat trays meet their match

Make no mi-steak, plastic meat trays that are numbers 1, 2 and 5 can now be recycled! Wellington’s recycling facility Oji Fibre Solutions is now the proud owner of an optical sorter, capable of diverting over seven million meat and other clear plastic trays from the region’s landfills and overseas processors each year. Winter Wednesdays at the Zoo

Wrap up warm to enjoy a mid-winter treat, with half-price adult and child entry to Wellington Zoo on any Wednesday during August. The newly upgraded Pukehuia Park (formerly Newlands Park) has officially opened! Bring the whole whānau and explore two new play areas, a pump track, a picnic and barbeque area, revamped skate park, a basketball half-court and Wellington's first all-weather Ki-O-Rahi pitch! COVID-19 accessible vaccination events

If you have a disability, impairment or long-term health condition, there are accessible COVID-19 vaccination events happening around the region over the next few weeks. Accessible events will have longer appointment times, more space, information in large print, NZSL interpreters, plus low-sensory environments. Onesie Day needs you! 

Wellington Free Ambulance’s Onesie Day annual appeal is taking place this 2-4 September. They are fundraising for the first Onesie Day-branded Ambulance and need volunteers to help with their street collection. Visit their sign up page to secure your collection spot today.
