August Big Meet Ups - let's get ready to rebel!
We're focusing on the August Rebellion (23rd August for 2 weeks) to share information and harvest action and outreach ideas, as well as to make sure we all have all we need to take part whether in London, in local actions or as Digital Activists. You might want to check out this Companion Doc before the meet up.

We're also mindful of the number of Covid cases locally so we're suggesting you test before coming to in person meetings and bring along a mask and hand sanitiser in case there's a need. Both because of Covid and hosting team capacity, please also make sure you bring all the refreshments you need for your own comfort. Thanks so much.
In person meetings will all be at the Glade and can only be on Tuesdays because of the availability of the space. The Glade is a spacious outdoor venue with cover in case it rains.
If you are coming by car please park in the Foxhole Car Park which is about a 10 minute walk to the Glade. https://thewoodland.co/directions/

The Outreach rebels held a very well attended session last Friday outside St Mary's Church - handing out leaflets, talking and block printing. More and more people are waking up to the urgency of the Climate and Ecological Emergency and with less than 100 days until COP26, it is vital to keep getting the message out there.

Our Government is still allowing investment in fossil fuels. It is still prioritising profit over people and the planet’s wellbeing. The only appropriate response at this stage, where people are dying, and to change the failing system fast enough, is civil disobedience.

Travel by coach to August Rebellion!!!!
XR UK are keen to offer a subsidised coach for Southwest rebels. Current plan is to arrive 1pm on Aug 23rd.
However, there hasn't been much demand so far, but if lots of Totnes and Area rebels expressed interest then we could get this booked and maybe even arrive a bit sooner.
So if you are still thinking about how to get to London, it would be really awesome to choose this coach option

PROTECT THE EARTH MARCH CELEBRATION 🎉
Covid safe Earth March celebrating - and parking!
We do hope that you will be able to join us from 6.00 this Saturday (31st) at The Glade in Dartington to celebrate the Protect the Earth March. The Glade is outdoors with water proof awnings, which we hope will help to keep people safe. With such a high prevalence of COVID locally at the moment, we would also very much recommend taking a Covid test before you come - just in case.
A reminder too to bring your own bowl, cup and cutlery as well as food to share and a mask to wear while you are around the food serving area.

TRUTH MANDALA - AN EVENING OF INNER PREPARATION FOR THE AUGUST REBELLION
Wednesday August 18th, 6 pm - 9 pm.
Venue: the Oak Room, Natural Health Centre, The Plains, Totnes.

The ’Truth Mandala’ is an exercise from Joanna Macy’s Work that Reconnects. It offers a lightly structured space for people to come together as a group in order to connect with and express emotional responses to the climate and ecological emergency. This can support us in clarifying our motivations and intentions and in deepening the resilience needed for action. Whether you plan to be in London in August or to offer support from home, you are very welcome. We hope this will be a moving and powerful experience for all those who attend.
The evening will be gently guided by Ben Stollery and Jenny Wilks, both of whom have experience of Truth Mandalas as participants and facilitators of the Active Hope course and in other settings. There is no pressure to take part any more than you wish to; some people will speak and others may just watch and listen. The evening will be held in a spirit of trust and confidentiality. Please arrive on time and with the intention to stay for the whole time.
Cost: by donation, just to cover room hire.
