"LUCA" - Disney's New Film A Tribute To
Italy And Its Seaside

LUCA is a new animated film set in The Italian Riviera. The story is about two friends, Luca and Alberto, growing up in Liguria between the ‘50s and ‘60s. The two not only share a deep friendship but also a great secret. The film is filled with pasta and pesto, the warm colors of the Cinque Terre, and a soundtrack for those with a passion for Italian music and traditions. LUCA is centered around a local race for kids with an Italian Vespa as the prize goal.

The film is a tribute to Italy and its seaside atmosphere, according to the Director, Enrico Casarosa. LUCA was inspired by his childhood in the Cinque Terre and the summers he spent there as a child. The film is clearly a love letter to Liguria and a tribute to Italy. “Here in Liguria, you grow up with the sea within because you always look at it. Ligurians know it. I wanted to celebrate the sea and show it to the world along with the good food and music that comes along with it.“

The film, while in English, includes many Italian words and sayings in the dialogue that are easy to understand. It is a fun film adventure that does not disappoint anyone who has a passion for things Italian.
