FabCare Challenge During FAB16!

FabCare is a network that encourages makers and fab labs to work together to make health and care more inclusive and innovative by co-designing and developing solutions that improve people's lives with the end users involved in the design process. The goal is for the end products to be produced locally and shared globally so as to be easily replicated.

The FAB16 FabCare award challenge, sponsored by the MakeOpaedics research project and the matrix gGmbH, is oriented towards developing a dynamic hand orthosis for assistance in different activities and applications, such as medicine, sports, work assistance, therapy and much more. We will explore agile innovation tools and learn how to implement these methods in your creative processes through this FAB16 FabCare challenge. As example, hands are one of the most precious resources of our body. If our hand or arm is injured, we would encounter many and various challenges. Our maker community could make a real contribution to the development of assistive systems to solve those challenges.

The winner of this challenge will have the opportunity to develop a two-week sprint together with the innovation team at matrix gGmbH in Düsseldorf (Germany).
