Farley/Drexler Branch Closed

The Dubuque County Library District in Farley, located in Drexler Middle School, has closed.

Starting August 17th, the library will offer the following weekly hours at the Farley Municipal Building: Tuesdays from 3:00–6:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 am–1:00 pm. During these hours, patrons can browse a small collection, pick up and place holds, and receive assistance from library staff.

An outdoor book drop will be available outside the Farley Municipal Building so that materials can be returned at any time. Since the book drop will not be checked daily, these materials may not be checked in on the day they are returned.

In-person library programs will be offered in Farley at the city park as weather allows and at the Farley Municipal Building. Visit the library’s website for more information on upcoming programs.

Members of the Farley community are invited to frequent any of the other Dubuque County Library branches: Asbury, Peosta/NICC, Epworth, and Holy Cross, and to call the Asbury Branch with any questions or concerns.

Board of Trustees Seeks Asbury Representative

The Dubuque County Library District has a vacancy for an Asbury representative on the Library Board of Trustees. The representative must live within the city limits of the City of Asbury. Please contact the City of Asbury if you are interested in serving on the library board or Library Director Mike Wright at 563-582-0008 with questions.

The board meets once a month on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm. Meetings, which have resumed in-person, are held at each of the branch libraries, and run for approximately one hour. The Board is responsible for advocating for library service, setting and monitoring the budget, approving policies, and planning for the library’s future.

The board consists of nine members representing the cities belonging to the Library District, as well as members from rural Dubuque County. Members are appointed to a six year term by the city council of the appropriate branch city or the county Board of Supervisors.
