Introducing Charles -
the Good Neighbour Officer

Charles has recently started at Community Action Derby as the new Good Neighbour Officer. He is leading the way in creating a brand new system within the Community Support Hub to support the great work all the Good Neighbours are doing.

A little introduction from Charles...
"Good morning, good afternoon and good evening — depending on when you are reading this. I am the new Good Neighbour Officer, and essentially, this means that I will be the main point of contact for all of the Good Neighbours, and my role is to support and promote the amazing work that all of the Good Neighbours are doing."

“At the moment, the Local Area Coordinators and I are trying to improve the system in place, where all of you will have an opportunity to help out in your community.”

The plan moving forward is...

Your Feedback -
We want to know your thoughts on the current method of managing the Support Requests and the Good Neighbours in your local ward. We want your feedback, so get in touch (charles.malapitan@communityactionderby.org.uk). This enables to us get a better system in place.

Please Update Us -
Normality is returning, and you may also be returning to the office or just getting your social life back, which may affect how involved you may be as a Good Neighbour. We kindly ask you to update us on how active you want to be as a Good Neighbour moving forward if you could all get back to us by WEDNESDAY 28th JULY 2021 - 23:59PM (GMT)

Tackling the rise in COVID cases -
As the COVID DELTA-variant cases are rising drastically in the East Midlands, we are aware that many people will have to self-isolate before the change in guidelines on 16th August 2021. We want to ensure that we have enough Good Neighbours to help out with our Mobile Taskforce - specifically helping deliver essential food parcels to vulnerable people. If you can assist in delivering food parcels around the local areas of Derby. Please contact - Billie (billie.ault@communityactionderby.org.uk) today!

Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance needs your help.

LOCAL DRIVER CALLOUT!

We are in desperate need of Good Neighbours that can help with delivering essential food parcels to vulnerable people. The drivers are on 'as needed' basis and will only typically be contacted when there is a request in place, so there is no regular slot to be filled.

We will try out best to ensure that we match requests to drivers that are nearby and convenient.

How to be a Food Parcel Driver:

Step 1: Request for Food Parcel
Food 4 Thought Alliance processes food parcel request and awaits delivery.

Step 2: Driver's Brief and Confirmation
Food 4 Thought Alliance contact available driver with details of food parcel pick-up point and delivery destination.

Step 3: Food Parcel Delivery
Driver picks up food parcel(s) from designated food bank or Co-Operative** and drivers parcel(s) to delivery destination(s).

Step 4: Driver's Debrief
Driver deletes information for data protection regulations and driver to contact Food 4 Thought Alliance  once the delivery has been completed.

**There are some emergency out of hours parcels held at various Co-Operative Shops in Derby. These are available between 3-6pm.

If you are interested in helping us with Food Parcel deliveries, please get in touch today and speak to Billie (billie.ault@communityactionderby.org.uk) today! Or contact 01332 346266 or 01332 640000 (option5).
