Did you know endocrinologists specialize in treating and preventing bone loss and preventing fractures? It's true! If your doctor has diagnosed you with osteoporosis or you’ve had fragility fractures, you may be referred to an endocrinologist to confirm the diagnosis. Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder where bones become porous, brittle, and prone to fracture. It can occur at any age but is more common in older adults. Establishing healthy habits when you’re young can help prevent or lessen the severity of osteoporosis as you age. Read more >

DKH's July Employee of the Month

Caitlyn Sward, registered dietitian in the Rose Bove LaRose Cancer Center at Day Kimball Hospital, has been named our employee of the month for July! Caitlyn began her career at DKH in 2019 after graduating with a bachelor’s of science in dietetics from the University of Connecticut. DKH Mammography Services Receive MQSA Accreditation 

We are excited to share that our imaging team has demonstrated the highest standards in breast imaging by once again receiving accreditation through the American College of Radiology (ACR) in Mammography!

Women who receive a mammogram at DKH can be confident they are receiving the highest level of image quality and safety in their examinations, as the hospital was recently awarded a three-year term of accreditation in 3D mammography from the ACR. DKH has offered 3D Mammography with Pristina Dueta™ technology since 2018 at our Day Kimball Healthcare Center in Plainfield and at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. Children's Play Group

Did you know DKH offers a children’s play group? Hosted by Nurturing Families Network and NOW, this play group provides games, stories, and interactive educational activities for children from birth through age 5.

Last month, we celebrated National Ice Cream Month with these little ones who enjoyed an afternoon of crafting, tunes, dancing, story time and of course, ice cream! Helping Protect Children & Families in NECT

DKH and the town of Plainfield and its school system leadership once again partnered on another community COVID-19 vaccination clinic for individuals ages 12 and up on Monday, August 2 at Plainfield High School. Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut's in-person bereavement support groups for adults have returned! These groups provide a community of empathy and support for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. Registration is required.
