Free Learning Series “Little Kids, Big World” Featured at North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum

BISMARCK, N.D. – Toddlers and preschoolers are invited to the free interactive learning series “Little Kids, Big World” at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum. These interactive 30-minute programs introduce children to North Dakota’s fascinating history. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

"Little Kids, Big World" classes are offered in a large public space with social distancing considerations. Each child is provided with their own supplies. The programs are Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., unless noted otherwise. Children and their parents or guardians are asked to meet at the east entrance information desk.

Aug. 7 "Sunlight Art." Use the sun and objects to create a fun picture.

Aug. 14 "Flight in North Dakota." 2 and 3 p.m. Learn about the history of flying in North Dakota. Make your own helicopter, and watch it fly.

Aug. 15 "Sound Scavenger Hunt." Join us as we search for the objects in the museum that make sound and create our own noisemakers.

Aug. 21 "Rockets are a Blast!" Did you know that the museum has a spacesuit? Check it out, then make a rocket to blast off.

Aug. 28 "Dino Fossils." Join us as we talk about digging for fossils in North Dakota and make our own fossil imprints.

Aug. 29 "Dakota the Dinomummy." Hear a story written by Paleontologist Becky Barnes and learn about Dakota the Dinomummy.

Follow us on Facebook for upcoming dates and topics. "Little Kids, Big World" is led by Sarah Fox, who has teaching endorsements in STEM 1-8, middle school 5-8, and kindergarten, and has taught for more than 10 years.
