Steamy August is Here
I am a 34 year resident of sunny Florida. I will never forget my first August back in 1987 renting a little house up near the Ringling Museum that had no air conditioning. Wow, what an introduction to Sarasota! Now, after 3+ decades, while I do live in a temperature-controlled environment, I spend lots of time outdoors, playing tennis or walking 3-5 miles in late afternoon and loving it! Perspiration is good for the body and does wonders for my complexion. Of course that doesn't mean exposing myself to the sun: I am always sleeved and hatted to protect my skin. Spending a lot of time outdoors was my salvation during the 2020 year of COVID.
Last month I reported seeing a painting on the sidewalk in Burns Court of a poster design that I created back in 1992 for the French Film Festival. The sidewalk painting is part of a project that features paintings by artists depicting something that depicts Sarasota- Florida- 100 years of local history. Take a stroll down Pineapple and Orange and enjoy a walk through Sarasota memories. Or you can still apply for a block of concrete to paint. Such fun!
