Hi everyone,

Wow, it’s been a hot week hasn’t it?! I hope you’ve been able to both enjoy the sun and get some sleep!

There are a few things that I wanted to mention today which are summarised in my update video below. Sorry it’s a bit longer than usual – there was a lot to communicate!

Changes on Sundays

If you haven’t seen it, please do have a look at Steve’s latest blog post in which he outlines the changes which will be implemented at our in-person services from this Sunday.  We are aiming to open things up gradually over the coming weeks.

The key points are that from this Sunday:
  • We will be able to sing with masks on.
  • We can remove masks when seated during the sermon.
  • We will be increasingly relaxed about socialising after the service out in the garden.
If you’re yet to return on a Sunday it would be great to see you. You can book in here.

Summer events

Across the month of August we’re aware that church can sometimes get a bit quiet as people go away. So we felt it was really important to put on a couple of events to maintain community through the summer season.

Please join us, if you can, for one or both of these:

Lee Worship Night, Friday 6th August, 7.45pm-9.30pm
Join us for an evening of extended worship. Neal and the worship team will be leading us in sung worship as well as leaving space to hear from God. So come along meet with others and, more importantly, with God.

In line with our new Covid policy, we will be required to wear masks while singing.

Lee BBQ, Sunday 22nd August, 12.45pm
We have missed gathering as a site and so we thought that, while the sun is shining, we would take the opportunity to gather and eat delicious burgers.

You do not need to be booked in to attend, but it helps with catering numbers to know who is planning on coming. Even if you come to the 9.30, you could still head out to the park or grab a coffee afterwards before returning for the BBQ.

Coffee Times
One of the events that has served us so well during the pandemic has been the online coffee time that we’ve run on Sunday mornings. We felt that, because many more people are returning to in-person services on Sundays, and fewer are attending the coffee times, we would bring these to an end.

Prayer Meetings
We will be taking a break across the summer from our nearly daily prayer meetings. Between 26th July and 5th September we will not run our prayer meetings in the format we have done. We may run the occasional meeting over the summer, so watch this space.

Our last prayer meeting will be tonight at 7-8pm. Do join us online.

And finally...

On Sunday at the 9.30am meeting, Peregrine and Denise Storrs-Fox shared the news that they will be moving on from King’s to pursue their God-given dream to be involved with a church plant in France. They have been at King’s for 20 years, and I’ve known them since I was a boy, so they will be hugely missed by many.

We say farewell with both a heavy and yet an excited heart because of all the adventures that lie ahead for them. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me or get in contact with them,

That’s all from me this week. Have a great weekend, and hopefully see you soon.

Blessings,

Andy
