We're seeing hazy skies and red sun this week due to smoke from the West Coast fires.  Photo of sunrise by Jay Burt.
This Wednesday from 10am - 4pm, the Arts & Crafts Fair is back!
Here's everything you need to know:
Cottage Treasures Sale - Consistent with the COVID guidelines from the Michigan Governor, the Cottage Treasures pre-sale and sale will be open as normal. There are no COVID capacity limits and masks are not required. Everyone should make their own decision about whether they feel safe attending in the current COVID environment and whether to wear a mask. We will be respectful of those who choose to wear a mask and those who do not. The pre-sale, open for CSA families to shop from 5-6 pm on Tuesday the 27th, is typically very crowded, so we ask for everyone to be patient and kind. If you don't get one treasure, you're sure to find another.
Donation drop off hours are Friday 7/23  from 9am-4pm, Saturday 7/24 from 2-4pm, Sunday 7/25 from 12-4pm, and Monday  7/26 from 9am-4pm. Use the exterior door of the Kitchen on the west side of the Assembly Building to donate items. Please do not walk through the building to get to the Kitchen. Furniture should be dropped off in the northeast corner of the Assembly Building, using only that door to enter. Please place items along the walls of the room to avoid blocking traffic. Outdoor items should be placed behind the Kitchen outside the northwest part of the building.

Volunteer - Workers are still needed to help at the fair, especially at Cottage Treasures on Wednesday.  Please see the sign up sheets on the front porch or have someone go there for you.  Remember - the proceeds benefit the Assembly's programs and the local community so a few hours of your time will go a long way!
Silent Auction - Featuring new theme baskets and items, the Silent Auction will be held in the Lounge area of the Assembly Building.  This popular attraction, which features area restaurant and retailer gift cards and activities available by bid, opens at 9:00am.  Final Bids must be placed by 1:30 p.m. and be picked up in the Lounge by 2:00 p.m.
Drop off your Silent Auction donations on Friday 7/23 - Sunday 7/25 (no later) at Laura Millar's house at 607 South Shore Rd.  Contact Laura with questions at thevinegrp@gmail.com or (678) 640-3638.
Shop: Come find that unique holiday, birthday or other occasion gift.  Purchase something special just for yourself too.  This is a great CSA tradition so stop by and join the fun!
On Sunday, July 18th we awarded the 2021 Citation for Long and Valued Service to the Assembly to Gary and Julie Dawley. Open the link to read the full citation speech.
Benzie area photographer Noah Sorensen will lead a sunset photography walk on Monday evening, July 26th for all interested in photography with any type of camera, phone etc. Please meet Noah at 8pm by the lifeguard stand on Assembly Crystal Lake beach.
Everything at the CSA has a story, whether it’s the streets we walk on or the sand we dig our toes into. The tolling of the Meeting House bell is such a constant that we almost don’t think to ask about it; but as with everything, behind that strong, musical ringing lies a fascinating history. Open the link to learn more in this great story about the Journey of the Meeting House Bell by our Communications/Archives Intern Loren Weiss.
