DRM Energy Savings Calculator Launched
The DRM Consortium has just launched a comprehensive and user-friendly calculator tool to determine how much energy can be saved by switching transmitters from analogue to digital DRM operation. Simon Keens (Ampegon) demonstrated the calculator to the more than 50 participants attending the virtual DRM launch. Personalised access to the calculator will be provided upon request. Read more

DRM Advanced Benefits Explored in User’s Experience Video
A new DRM corporate video focused on the user’s experience of digital radio and the many benefits offered by DRM is now available on the Consortium’s YouTube channel.
The DRM – User’s Experience video was created specifically to introduce the many other benefits that DRM digital radio brings to listeners apart from the audio services. Read more
The video is a sequel to the recently released, “DRM – From Studio to the Listener” video which addressed transmission and distribution issues and could be of great use to regulators, broadcasters and the industry.
Both videos, together with the newly launched energy calculator, form a compendium of resources available to regulators, industry and listeners in introducing and highlighting the many benefits of DRM digital technology, the only all band open standard that can uniquely offer full country coverage - DRM YouTube channel.

The DRM Consortium participated in the two-day ABU webinar on the Advanced Transmission and Delivery Technologies series. Showcasing the best in digital radio, representatives of the Consortium presented the green and versatile characteristics of DRM and the results of the successful DRM FM trial from India. Read more
ABU Technical Review - DRM in FM India Trial in Focus
In the latest edition of the ABU Technical Review, Mr Yogendra Pal, Hon Chair of the DRM India Chapter, writes on the successful demonstration and trial of DRM in the FM Band in India carried out in March 2021.
The main conclusion is that DRM in the FM band is ready for India’s mass market. The Indian automotive industry has rolled-out DRM enabled radio sets in the millions and proven during the trial that, with a simple firmware upgrade, those receiver models support DRM in the FM band with the full feature set. Stakeholders are eagerly waiting for the Indian Government to urgently announce a much-awaited policy, recommending the adoption of DRM in the FM band for public service and private broadcasters in India. DRM Responds to EBU Radio Report
The DRM Consortium and its members responded to a recent report by the EBU giving an overview of live radio and covered in a commentary piece in Radio World “EBU finds radio is in the air”. Of the 56 EBU member countries surveyed for the report, 90% were still broadcasting in analogue FM presenting an enormous opportunity for DRM, where three digital broadcasts can be made from the same FM transmitter providing for significant energy savings with minimal additional investment while using only half the analogue FM bandwidth.
