Exciting news! We plan to restart Sailability - sort of.
Although in theory restrictions have eased, we are very aware that infection rates are rising and many of you (and indeed our volunteers) are vulnerable. As a result of this we have opted for a phased return. Initially we wish to avoid any hoisting or very close proximity to each other in a boat.
The plan is to restart Sailability on 30th July using the Wheelyboat boat only. Trips around the lake. For those of you who don’t know what this is think WW2 landing craft. A motor launch with a ramp so you can walk in or push a wheelchair in. (At this point I would normally insert a picture but I’m struggling with the email package 🥴)
Extra Covid precautions:
1. we are asking that all volunteers and participants are double vaccinated (if this creates a problem please contact me in confidence)
2. We will not have access to the clubhouse apart from toilets and changing. Registration, life jacket fitting as well as tea and cake will take place out of doors. Please bring a jumper if if it is a cool day.
3. please bring a mask. It will be required for life jacket fitting.
4. most importantly please could you let me know if you would like to come. The Wheelyboat will be running on reduced capacity and we need to make sure we have space for everyone. We can then give you a time to turn up.

To all those sailors who prefer the wind power of an Access dinghy or the Crabber, please don’t go and fill your Fridays with other things, we do hope to be able to resume a normal service soon.
