The Weekend Word

Hebrew word ga-al is

Redeem

Picture Above
Reading from right to left
gimel aleph lamed

The pictographs from the ancient Hebrew show us a direct understanding of this word redeem. The letter gimel means to lift up, the letter aleph means Ox or Strong Leader (God), and the letter lamed at the end is a pointer.

So this word literally means Strong Leader (God) is lifted up ! Who does that remind you of?

גָּאַל
gâ'al
gaw-al'
A primitive root, to redeem (according to the Oriental law of kinship), that is, to be the next of kin (and as such to buy back a relative’s property, marry his widow, etc.): -    X in any wise, X at all, avenger, deliver, (do, perform the part of near, next) kinsfolk (-man), purchase, ransom, redeem (-er), revenger.

Hos 13:14  I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction: repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.

Psa 72:14  He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.

In the Greek we find the word used only a few times in the Briet Chadasha and it is rendered as below. It means to ransom.

G3084
λυτρόω
lutroō
loo-tro'-o
From G3083; to ransom (literally or figuratively): - redeem.

Tit 2:14  Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

So the ransom He paid was by Himself being lifted up on the cross! The Hebrew language reveals to us so much more of a direct understanding from the start. It is wonderful to encounter these beautiful truths that don’t take away from our faith but encourage and enhance it far beyond what we knew. It is also proof this was the plan of Yah all along! The Hebrews knew all along about Messiah’s promise! It was because of their rebellious ways and unbelief that they lost sight of who Yahushua was when He arrived on the earth. He is Messiah the ga-‘al!

Now our challenge is this will we loose sight of the message and miss our time of visitation which is right on the horizon. When the trumpet sounds will you be tuned in to hear it? There is no reason you should miss this great time before us if you believe and continue to walk with Him! You have been redeemed! As always these Weekend Words are just an appetizer for your further study, meditation, and your personal spiritual growth. We leave you with these encouraging Scriptures, look up for your redemption draws near!

2Th 1:4-5  So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

1Co 15:51-52  Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1Co 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Baruch & Shalom to you all

For here and for all further Scriptural references unless specifically noted we use The King James(KJV) and or The International Standard Version (ISV) for our Scriptural quotes. Please also note we use Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Concordance for added understanding.

For here and for all further Scriptural references when these two words are used; LORD and Jesus please be advised of the following: We do interchange them out of respect to our God.

Wherever LORD is used the actual Hebrew = יהוה Yahuwah H3068
Wherever Jesus is used the actual Hebrew = יְהוֹשֻׁעַ  Yahushua H3091

We also would like to point out when we use the term (God) we are referring to the One True Elohim’. The I Am of The Scriptures not just any old god. Yah is  His Name reference (Psa 68:4  Sing to Elohim, sing praises to His Name. Raise up a highway for Him Who rides through the deserts, By His Name Yah, And exult before Him.)

We have a further in-depth study on His Names on our website Here.
