The new school year is around the corner. Find everything you need to know about school registration in Hamilton.
Kindergarten:
To enrol in Year 1 of Kindergarten children must be four years old by December 31 of the school year in which they begin. Kindergarten is a two-year, full-day program that helps children get the best possible start in school. They will be challenged and encouraged to do their very best by the caring team of educators at their school.
Elementary:
Grade 1-8
Age: 6-13
The Ontario Curriculum for elementary students has specific curriculum documents for the following areas:
- The Arts
- French As a Second Language
- Health and Physical Education
- Language
- Mathematics
- Science and Technology
- Social Studies
Secondary:
Grade 9-12
Age: 14-17
The Ontario Curriculum for secondary students has designated curriculum documents for the following areas:

Step 1 – Find your neighbourhood school using HWDSB’s School Locator tool or call 905-527-5092.
Step 2 – Create a Parent Account on the HWDSB Online Registration Portal
- OR, Register in person at your neighbourhood school (unavailable during remote learning period).
- OR, complete and print the Registration Form, also available at your school. You can submit PDF forms via email. (See school email list.)
- NOTE: Online registration and digital submission of documents will be the only method of registering new students until schools reopen.
Step 3 – Complete and submit the New Student Registration form
Step 4 – Your school will contact you via MS Teams to verify the information submitted.
Step 5 – Find out if your child is eligible for transportation to and from school in the Student Transportation Policy Manual.

The Fall Women's Business Accelerator program is now open for registration!
A great opportunity for any newcomer woman interested in launching or growing her business.
This program is for newcomer women who are:
- permanent residents, convention refugees or live-in caregivers, and
- interested in launching their own business or improving existing business plans.
Where: All workshops will be held online, on the Zoom platform.
When: September 13 to October 27, 2021,
Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00-8:30 p.m.
Cost: Free!
