"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves..." ~ Romans 12:10

In my Bible reading this morning, the topic was unity among brothers and sisters in the church. Nicky Gumble, the creator of Alpha, said this ---
The best way to keep unity in relationships is to:

  • Refusing to be offended
  • Refusing to hold a grudge
  • Refusing to take revenge

He quoted Proverbs 19:11: "A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense."

Our faith in Jesus is put to the test when we are asked to put our faith into practice. It is easy to get along when there is no conflict.

But how well do we hold up under difficult times? Are we committed to loving each other as Christ has loved us?

The hope for our families, the hope for our communities, and the hope for the world depends on our daily putting into practice our faith in Jesus.

We love the Savior who, at the height of his suffering, prayed for the people who are mocking him. Prayed for the very people who crucified him.

We're called to be like him in our homes, in our community, and in our church.

The great humility of Jesus should shake us to our core daily and fill us with gratitude. It should immediately soften our hearts. It restores us and makes us new. It gives us the strength to forgive, and not be easily offended.

And as always, let's pray for one another in love. That is God's plan, and it's a really good one!

God bless you today,

~ Pastor Denise

Food Pantry Ministry
2nd & 4th Monday Each Month
The next Food Pantry distribution is
Monday, August 9
The DeBows Food Pantry is open on the 2nd & 4th Monday each month, 6-8pm. DeBows is using an "Appointment Only" system to distribute the food. People can make an appointment by calling 848-373-8844.

Please note: participants need to call for an appointment by 5:00 PM on the Saturday prior to the scheduled food pantry day. This gives the Food Pantry volunteers time to prepare the food for distribution. "Thank You" for your cooperation.

Please contact Deb Cregle if you need further information or would like to volunteer to help with the Food Pantry ministry.
Clothing Drive
Ends August 8
DeBows is running a USED CLOTHING DRIVE. We are working with a company in Freehold that will pay DeBows by the pound for the used clothes collected. The clothes will be processed and distributed to those in need.

Now is the time to clean your closets and donate anything you no longer want or need. Here is a list of items that are acceptable for this fundraiser.
  • used men, women, and children’s clothing
  • shoes
  • purses
  • belts
  • bed and bath linens
  • stuffed animals

Please put your donations in plastic garbage bags and place them on the stage in Fellowship Hall no later than Sunday, August 8. The clothes will be picked up the morning of August 9. Thank you for your support.
UMCOR Hygiene Kits

DeBows will be supporting UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) through September by supporting their Hygiene Kit program.

This is hurricane season and the heat wave/drought conditions in the west this summer increase the risks of wild fires.

Along with accepting monetary donations, DeBows will be collecting items to build Hygiene Kits. Our UMCOR Hygiene Kit outreach activity helps to meet the ever increasing demand for relief items. The Hygiene Kits we put together are forwarded to UMCOR for deployment to those most in need. This has been very successful and rewarding ministry in past years.

If you wish to donate, please mark clearly on your check or envelope that it is for UMCOR.  Each Hygiene Kit is valued at $12, but any and all donations will be greatly appreciated and will be sent to UMCOR along with the hygiene kits.

Click HERE to view a detailed list of items needed along with other important guidelines. "Thank You" for your support.
