FEATURE ARTICLE

We’ve all heard of the phrase 'new semester, new me!’ As we head into the second half of the year, it is time for us to reconsider our current study habits and get organised for a new semester!

Define Goals
Clearly defining your goals for this semester will help you stay focused and motivated moving forward. Whether it is aiming for a higher WAM or landing that internship, make sure you identify strategies and utilise resources that will help you get to where you want to be.

Create a Study Routine
During the start of the semester, it is a good idea to consider developing a study routine that works for you and stick to it for the rest of the year. Begin by planning a weekly breakdown of your time to include your classes, work shifts, study sessions and most importantly, break time. This method will allow you to make better use of your time to achieve your goals and enhance productivity.

Try out Different Study Methods
Are you still feeling burnt-out from last semester? Consider changing your study approach to refresh your mindset. Whether it is trying the Pomodoro technique or the Cornell note-taking method, switching up your current habits may bring you unexpected results. Don’t knock it until you try it!

Form Study Groups
A great way to improve motivation is to surround yourself with others you can relate to! One way to do this is to engage with your classmates or find friends who are studying the same units as you. Study groups will be extremely beneficial especially during revision and SWOTVAC periods.

Be Kind to Yourself!
The greatest downfall any student can face during a semester is burning out. The most important tip is remember to put your mental and emotional health first! Remember, a bad mark is just motivation to do better next time.

Good luck for Semester 2! You can do this!
