Djilba (First Spring)

Djilba (First Spring)

Djilba is a transitional time of the year, with a mix of cold, clear days and warmer, rainy days. It is considered by Noongar people as the season of conception, or the growing season. Look out for masses of yellow and cream flowers appearing in the bush. This starts with the yellow flowering plants such as the Acacias, and then white flowers including the wannang or weeping peppermint. Visit the Kaartdijin Noongar website to learn more about Noongar knowledge, culture and history.

Keep Australia Beautiful Week

Keep Australia Beautiful Week

Keep Australia Beautiful Week is 16 - 22 August. It's a time to raise awareness about the simple things we can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment.

Our beautiful country needs help to protect its biodiversity. Plastic that ends up in nature can take up to 500 years to decompose and can harm animals that ingest it. This year we're putting plastic in the spotlight as we try to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic to prevent it from becoming litter. Learn more
