Hosted by Retired Judge, The Honourable Nancy Flatters QC, LL.M., this three-part webinar series examines the operation of the Amendments to the Divorce Act since implementation on March 1, 2021, and impact on obligations and practice for mediators, legal practitioners and other professionals working with families and children experiencing divorce.

Nancy reviews the Amendments since inception, the implications for families and family members experiencing divorce, and the evolution of obligations for any persons or professionals working with parents, children, and families in divorce.
Learn how case law, and scholarly articles and comments, are interpreting the Amendments, how the Amendments are improving problem-solving mechanisms for children and parents encountering difficulties or disputes on divorce, as well as some of the potential pitfalls which may arise.

Enhancing the FMC Member Insurance Program

The change of broker does not impact any current coverage FMC members have in place.
FMC Members now have access to Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) that is more comprehensive, providing insured members’ coverage while working within their scope of practice as a mediator.
The FMC Member Professional Liability Insurance is now underwritten by Lloyd’s of London, the largest insurance market in the world. This has enabled BMS to provide FMC members’ higher limits and increased coverage. BMS’s offering will also see FMC members receive specialist service, including legal assistance and claims management.

If you are currently insured through the FMC Insurance Program, your policy will expire on June 1st. Please complete the application on the FMC website and provide to BMS who will connect with you to finalize. https://www.fmc.ca/insurance/
