ACTION NEWS--One More Day!!

There's still time to help make Holyoke Rows and Jones Ferry even better!

Holyoke Rows has teamed up with the Connecticut River Conservancy to apply to the City of Holyoke for stimulus funds that will make some great improvements and help allow more people to better enjoy the River and our programs. We have asked for almost $450,000 to replace and expand our docks to allow for universal access and safer rowing, paddling, fishing, and recreation; replace the stairs; extend the boat ramp; develop bi-lingual signage; deploy no-wake and channel markers; and support 3 years of expanded programming. Yahoo!

We need your help -Holyoke city officials want to hear from the public about how to spend the almost $30M in funds allocated to Holyoke. Everyone's voice is important, regardless of where you live.  If you've had good experiences at Holyoke Rows, please let them know!

We've made it easy – Below is an email template. All you need to do is click the link to send your emails directly to Alicia Zoeller, Community Development Director
and Acting Mayor Terry Murphy voicing support for these projects, or you can copy and paste into an email directly. The emails do not need to be long at all, but should have some personal element about how they use the facility at Jones Ferry.

A few quick minutes of your time will make a huge difference for a lot of people. Thank you!

Dear Ms. Zoeller and Mayor Murphy,

[insert a sentence about how you use Jones Ferry or enjoy the river]. I am writing to support the joint application of Holyoke Rows and the Connecticut River Conservancy for funds to improve the Jones Ferry River Access facility. The pandemic has inspired many more people to come to Jones Ferry to enjoy the river and use the boats and programs that Holyoke Rows offers. That is a great opportunity to support public health outcomes from outdoor recreation and provide free and low cost programming to Holyoke families. But the increase in use has meant there is a critical need for better docks, buoys, signs, and safer ways to use the river.

Thanks for the opportunity to voice my support for important improvements at Jones Ferry that will be a real help in addressing the challenges and opportunities of the pandemic.
