All the talk of "supply chain" issues sounds like it's someone else's problem, happening in another city or town. Unfortunately it is affecting many merchants in Estes Park, with shortages expected to show their faces in August as we crest the visitation curve. The Taffy Shop relies on suppliers with precise order and delivery schedules, as we don't have a lot of storage room and strive to keep our ingredients fresh... So we ordered on time, but were told just before the delivery date that it would be an additional 10 weeks for supplies, so we had to shift into overdrive. Searching the country for suitable replacement items or other sources was difficult, and the plan was to continue manufacturing until supplies actually ran out, then close until we were able to restart with the same quality that customers expect. To our utter shock, a couple weeks ago on Monday the delivery date was still August 20th. When Mark called back on Wednesday to make sure he heard what he thought he heard, our rep advised our order had been completed the day before, and was ready to ship! Albeit 2 weeks after our original ship date, it was 5 weeks earlier than their revised/delayed date- and just 1 week before we planned to close, anticipating we would run out of key supplies.

Estes PARKing, new in 2021

We're sad to say that town planners have decided to charge for parking, primarily in the downtown area in this 'inaugural year' to see if it's a good way to improve on the parking and traffic situation. Of course, after 30 years in Estes Park, and working daily in the downtown area, we all have our own opinions about this idea... but right now we think it's most important to share good information with you to plan your upcoming visit to Estes. The public lot behind The Taffy Shop, at Cleave and Big Horn is still free, as well as most of the parking at Tregent Park, and further West in the Performance Park lot. On the East end of town there the 415 spaces in parking garage, also free.
