Applications Open: Boulder County Food & Beverage Pollution-Reduced Packaging Pilot

Boulder County invites you to participate in the Boulder County Food & Beverage Pollution-Reduced Packaging Pilot. This U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-funded program will provide financial and technical support to two to three food and beverage manufacturers. Financial and technical support will assist the development and creation of packaging that is reusable, recyclable, compostable, and/or reduces toxic pollutants, use of water, energy, or other raw materials.

Applications are due on or before 4:00 PM Mountain Time on August 13, 2021. Applications must be submitted electronically to bkurzynowski@Recycle.com, in Microsoft Word or PDF format.

Louisville-based Quinn Foods Raises $10M

Organic food company Quinn Foods has raised $10 million in equity funding. Michele Meyer, operating partner at NewRoad Capital Partners and former president of General Mills’ snacks division Small Planet Foods, will be joining Quinn Foods’ board of directors as a result of the capital raise. Quinn Snacks makes pretzels and popcorn sourced “farm-to-bag” using natural, organic, and non-GMO ingredients.

The Good Crisp Co. Launches Immune-Boosting Cheese Balls

Boulder-based The Good Crisp Co., a maker of better-for-you chips in the classic canister shape, has launched a new line of cheese balls. Made with non-GMO, gluten-free, and natural ingredients, the cheese balls are available in cheddar and aged white cheddar varieties. They are formulated with Wellmune, an immune-boosting ingredient that has been shown to help strengthen the immune system and enhance its key functions, according to the company.

Future Fit Foods Launches SUPPAS

Longmont, CO woman- and minority-owned startup Future Fit Foods LLC, has launched a new line of pocket-sized mini meals. Each SUPPA contains over ten superfoods, is fully cooked using organic and/or non-GMO ingredients, and can be enjoyed in just three minutes using hot water. Peak State Attains Organic Certification for Line of Coffee with Benefits

Prenexus Health Closes on Series B Financing

Prenexus Health, a manufacturer of organic prebiotic ingredients for the supplement, food, and beverage industry, recently announced a $15 million first close on its Series B financing, coupled with additional funding to total $23 million in expansion financing. Proceeds from the funding will be used to significantly expand production capacity at the company's Gilbert, Arizona manufacturing plant. The facility uses a process to produce certified-organic XOS (xylo-oligosaccharide) from US-grown organic sugar cane. The resulting ingredient, branded as PreneXOS™, is a prebiotic for feeding beneficial probiotic bacteria in the gut microbiome in as little as one gram per day.
