Alfred Health’s Pharmacy Excellence Heads to the Regions
Alfred Health’s pharmacy excellence in clinical trials is now being transferred into other Victorian hospitals thanks to a new initiative that will provide more cancer trials to regional and remote patients. TrialHub was established at The Alfred last year to facilitate the equitable access to cancer clinical trials by partnering with outer metro, rural and regional hospitals to help them establish long-term, sustainable clinical trial units.

New Research Hope for Patients with Recurrent Prostate Cancer
Ground-breaking research looking at the best way to locate recurrent prostate cancer in patients will change the future for thousands of people. Cabrini Urologist Professor Mark Frydenberg, together with former Cabrini medical student Kavitha Gnanasambantham, were part of the team researching how to locate recurrent prostate cancer in patients and whether it was localised recurrence or in another part of the body.

CRISPR Cell Service at MGMP Now 50% NCRIS Subsidised
The Monash Genome Modification Platform, in alliance with Phenomics Australia, is now offering CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing in cells. CRISPR technology enables the production of a number of mutations not previously possible using conventional gene targeting. We can generate knock-out, knock-in, point-mutated and tagged versions of your favourite gene in a wide variety of both human and mouse cell lines.
We offer a full service, from project design to delivery of modified clones. Use one of our proven cell lines or suggest your own to use, we are happy to discuss the possibilities. Stream 1: study individuals that have tested positive for COVID-19 to improve understanding of the long term health impacts of COVID-19

Stream 3: conduct clinical trials to generate knowledge on the efficacy of vaccine schedules that combine different COVID-19 vaccines.

Cancer Australia Priority-driven collaborative cancer research – for funding commencing in 2022
Ten new cancer research projects totalling $2.9 million will be funded by Cancer Australia, Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation, Cure Cancer, Leukaemia Foundation, My Room, and National Breast Cancer Foundation. PdCCRS applications will only be accepted if an application has been submitted to NHMRC’s Ideas Grants or Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grants schemes and a corresponding PdCCRS Questions application form has been submitted to Cancer Australia. Embedding Exercise Into Routine Cancer Care
Peter Mac, Department of Health Services Research is researching what oncology health professionals need, to help them recommend exercise to their patients. The aim of the research is to create pragmatic, fit-for-purpose, practical tools to assist the clinician-patient conversations about exercise.
