PH, UN launch first-ever national joint programme for human rights following Human Rights Council resolution 45/33

Under auspices of the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in the Philippines, UNODC supported the development of the joint UN program on Human Rights in the Philippines which will include components on human rights-based approaches in counter-terrorism and drug control. Other UN agencies part of this programme will include the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT) and UNESCO.

Philippines, UN sign agreement to counter terrorist travel

The Philippines and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signifying a mutual commitment to enhance the country’s capabilities to detect and interdict known and suspected terrorists and criminals using passenger data. The Programme utilizes an “All-of-UN” approach in partnership with the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Office of Information and Communication Technology (OICT), and the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
