Upcoming UFP Events

TRUNK SALE - IT'S A GO!!!

Looking for participants to make our first trunk sale a huge success!
It's a simple concept...register by Aug 1...then bring your treasures to the UFP parking lot between 8 am and 9 am ...open your trunk and/or set up a table...and sell your stuff as a fundraiser for UFP. It’s a great opportunity to declutter your home, keep reusable items from landfill and maybe also find some great new-to-you treasures.
All the info you need is HERE. And, we could use some help in organizing. Ruth Schumaker is ready to register you and answer your questions. And tell all your friends! Share our FB postings! And here's a poster

SMALL OUTDOOR "MEETUPS"

Note: Kathy's email address has been corrected below. If you didn't hear back from her, try again.
The Connections Team would like to host some small in-person UFP gatherings. Here are two options to start:
1) An outdoor drumming circle in the courtyard at UFP
2) Coffee and chatting in one of the local parks (bring your own coffee and chair if possible)
Please respond to Kathy McLay at kthmclay@gmail.com expressing your interest. We'll schedule the gatherings when we know who wants to be a part. Of course, there will be covid precautions.
It'll be fun! Waiting to hear from you!

ANTI-RACISM MOVIE NIGHT
Friday, July 30, 7pm

The Anti-Racism Action Group (ARAG) invites you to a showing of two classic indigenous films

Second is Cree Hunters of Mistassini, an immersion in life in the James Bay region just before the James Bay Project (57 minutes).
Ben Wolfe will host, introducing the films and hosting the post-film discussion. This is the 2nd night of a series.

PLANNING A UFP-SANCTIONED ACTIVITY?

Please consult the Covid Standards committee as you start your planning.
The Step 3 protocol is HERE.
The Covid Standards and Safe Reopening Committee would like to help those planning UFP activities to ensure provincial, local and UFP covid safety standards are part of the planning process. Any activity, event, or member gatherings that are planned to include any UFP members who would like to participate and that would usually be announced Sunday mornings or included in “The Flame” would be considered a UFP sanctioned activity. Note that the link to join is different than our usual link. Information will be posted on our website and here in the Flame each week as usual.
There's now a place on our website for all the news that is the news about summer. If you're wondering what's going on, check it out HERE.

Working for Justice

VIGIL FOR PEACE

"Peacemaking doesn't mean passivity. It is the act of interrupting injustice without mirroring injustice, the act of disarming evil without destroying the evildoer, the act of finding a third way that is neither fight nor flight but the careful, arduous pursuit of reconciliation and justice. It is about a revolution of love that is big enough to set both the oppressed and the oppressors free."
~Shane Claiborne, Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals
The vigil is Monday, July 26, noon-1pm at the corner of George and McDonnel.
