CMF ARTISTS FORTHCOMING CONCERTS

Samson Tsoy (piano)
Friday 30th July 1pm
Wigmore Hall

City Music Foundation Artist Samson Tsoy makes his solo debut at Wigmore Hall at the end of July with a programme pairing Bach and Mussorgsky, sandwiching selected works by Kurtag. Samson opens the recital with Bach’s highly virtuosic Partita No. 2 in C minor and closes it with the ever popular Pictures at an Exhibition, perhaps better known through Ravel’s luscious orchestration in 1922 but originally composed as a suite for piano in 1874.

The concert has £5 tickets available for under-35s and will be approximately an hour in duration, without an interval.

Samson is the co-founder of the Ragged Music Festival which took place most recently in May 2021. Recent performances at the festival have involved violinist Alina Ibragimova, violist Lawrence Power, tenor Mark Padmore and fellow founder and pianist Pavel Kolesnikov.

Beethoven 251 Foyle-Stsura Review

We were delighted to read this warm review of our concert last week, given by Violin-Piano Duo Michael Foyle and Maksim Stsura.  In the early evening light, a ‘phantasmagoric mood was conjured’ as the pair played three sonatas from different periods of the composer’s life. The reviewer spoke of the ‘faultless’ technical playing and ‘fully attuned’ musicality of the pair, both playing everything from memory and working ‘brilliantly as a team’.  In our reception after the concert, City Music Foundation celebrated the launch of the second of their three albums comprising the complete Sonatas, as well as Michael’s birthday! A truly fitting review and a worthy birthday present.

City Music Foundation Artists at Snape Maltings

A number of CMF Artists have recently been at the stunning Snape Maltings. Soprano Sian Dicker and Mezzo-Soprano Lotte Betts-Dean visited Aldeburgh for three days to begin their work as Britten-Pears Young Artists, where they received coaching from international superstars Sarah Connelly and Joseph Middleton. We're all very jealous of them spending time at this special place.
