City Commission Meeting Recap


The City Commission of Eudora held its regular, semimonthly meeting on Monday, July 12, 2021 at City Hall. The meeting was also held virtually to allow residents to call in and Commissioners to maintain social distance.
  • Approved Resolution 2021-09 authorizing and directing the issuance, sale and delivery of General Obligation Temporary Notes, Series 2021-A.
  • Approved the Planning Commission's recommendation of the final development plan for Village Green at the Nottingham Center.
  • Approved the 10th Street Sidewalk Expansion Grant Agreement between the City of Eudora and the Kansas Department of Transportation.
  • Approved proclamation declaring July as Parks and Recreation Month, and July 16, 2021 as Parks and Recreation Professional Day.

Employee Spotlight

 
The City of Eudora has hired Kelly Delay as the new Administrative Services Manager/City Clerk. In this newly created position, Kelly will provide support to the City Manager’s Office and Commissions, act as custodian of official City records and public documents, facilitate permits and resolutions, and oversee Utility Billing Department functions. She will also serve as the City's Freedom of Information Act Coordinator, prepare grant funding applications, and prepare Commission agenda packets and meeting minutes.

Kelly Delay's introduction to public service began with six years of summer parks and recreation work. She has since accumulated seven years of city government experience, most recently in her position as an Administrative Technician – Finance for the City of Lawrence. Her previous work history includes client relations, software management, procedure development, and personnel direction for the City of Olathe – where she was also recognized in 2016, 2018, and 2019 respectively for awards in Customer Service, and was an active member of the Celebration and Innovation Leadership Philosophy Group, Front Line Advisory Group, and Citizen Outreach Committee for Olathe2040. Kelly has cultivated accompanying expertise in digital media and related technologies.

Kelly earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Photo Media from the University of Kansas in 2014, in addition to Dean’s List honors.

Upcoming Aquatic Center Events 

 
Through the end of the season, the Aquatic Center will open at 12:00 PM on Saturdays, rather than the previous 1:00 PM. Closing hours will remain the same.
 
SUNDAY SWIM:
We will be open on Sunday, August 22 and Sunday, September 5 for additional open swim times.
 
NIGHT SWIM:
Come join us for a night of extended hours! The Aquatic Center will be open between the hours of 6:30 and 10:30 PM on Wednesday, July 28 and Thursday, August 5. Admission will be $1/ person. Season Pool Passes will still be accepted.

Save the Date: The Great Kaw Adventure Race


The Great Kaw Adventure Race is scheduled to return September 25. The team-based event centers around retrieving "artifacts" by engaging in various challenges. Participants will be tasked with navigating routes by foot, bike, and even canoe. At the conclusion of the race, a celebration featuring local vendors, drinks, and live music will be held at 9th and Main St, and will be open to the public.

Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ 515 W 7th St. (behind the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Eudora.) Open to City residents only.

The City Commission - as well as all other public meetings - agenda materials and past meeting minutes are available on the City of Eudora's Website. All meetings are have a virtual attendance option due to COVID-19. Dial in information is available in the meeting packet on our website.
