Province-wide Changes to  Meat Inspection Regulations

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Fisheries has made changes to the Meat Inspection Regulations that will allow for on-farm slaughter across the Province.

A license will be required. More info on how to apply for these 'Farmgate' or 'Farmgate Plus' licenses will be available October 1.

Existing Class D facilities will automatically transition to farmgate plus.

See the news release and find more info here.

The Small Scale Meat Producers Association is surveying meat producers across the Province.

"The survey has been developed by a large team of producers from across BC to document the economic and food-security impact of small-scale meat production in this province, and the potential opportunities for this sector.

The survey should take less than 15 minutes and all current producers who complete the survey are eligible to receive a $25 discount code for fencing supplies".

Survey closes August 20. Your voice matters!
