Happy Summer, <<First Name>>!

I hope you are enjoying the laid-back feeling of summer and have had a chance to get away, spend time with family and experience the great outdoors.

Justice Denied

Iowa Sex Trafficking and Sexual Abuse Laws & the Statute of Limitations

Join me for an informative and powerful discussion with three women working to change the laws around child sexual abuse and sex trafficking in Iowa and across the US on Thursday, July 29 at 2 pm CT.

Joining our discussion will be Marci Hamilton, founder and board CEO of CHILD USA, and Kathryn Robb, Executive Director of CHILD USA and Iowa State Senator Janet Petersen.

Currently Iowa is one of the few states in the US that severely limits the amount of time a survivor of childhood sexual abuse has to come forward and seek justice against their abuser(s). We need to change that. And we need your help!

RSVP to join our Facebook Live discussion on Thur, July 29 at 2 pm CT.
Presentation will be recorded and available for those who cannot join at that time.

Help Iowans Find Meaningful Careers

I am proud to serve on the board of Project Iowa, an organization started ten years ago with the purpose of helping adults going through life transitions find new and meaningful careers through training, community support and compassion.

Over the last decade, Project Iowa has helped hundreds of central Iowans get back on their feet after life setbacks and taught real-world skills that go beyond just writing a resume or acing an interview; skills such as time management, emotional self-care, communication and conflict-resolution.

CAN YOU HELP? Project Iowa is in a contest to receive grant funding from Gannett, Inc (owner of the Des Moines Register) and must raise $6000 by August 16 to be considered for the next round. ANY donation amount will go directly to Project Iowa AND help us raise MORE!

Can you spare $1, $5, $25 to help hardworking Iowans get back to work?

Civilian Climate Corps

Ask your electeds to support a new Civilian Climate Corps to modernize America’s infrastructure, protect against natural disasters, update and improve the energy efficiency of our state and federal buildings and lift hundreds of thousands of young Americans out of poverty and out from under the heel of student debt.

The Civilian Climate Corps is an idea based on the Civilian Conservation Corps of the New Deal. It has been proposed as part of the American Jobs Act (the Infrastructure Deal) and as a separate stand-alone bill.

The new CCC would pay $15 per hour, be open to all races and genders, would provide health insurance, student debt forgiveness, child care allowances and the opportunity to join a union. Members would be on the front lines fighting the effects of climate change and building a better America.

CAN YOU HELP? Contact your federal representatives and ask them to support the CCC.
