Important Notice re Fall Sign-ups and Player Participation
ALL BC sports activities--including PGOSA's-- are still being regulated by Viasport BC on behalf of the PHO and we are currently in Phase 3 of the BC Govt Restart Program.
Specifics on Phase 3
Mask guidance
Masks are recommended in indoor public places for all people 12 and older who are not yet fully vaccinated.
The mask mandate order under the Emergency Program Act was lifted July 1.
Proof of vaccination does not need to be requested by service providers
Some people may choose to continue to wear a mask after they're fully vaccinated and that's okay
In short,
PGOSA will not MANDATE a 2 vax requirement--and even if we did, the member has no obligation to answer to a question re their vax status as per the Province help line.
We EXPECT ALL PGOSAns to abide by the Province's 2 vax requirement before signing up or participating in any PGOSA activity.
We EXPECT ALL PGOSAns will respect the Province's mandate that they be 14 days post their second dose before entering into ANY PGOSA function---Sporting or Social.
We cannot Police you---this is a matter of honour and respect for your fellow PGOSAns and we expect there will be no issues on this given the maturity of our members.
Thank you---play safe, everyone.

Parksville Community Park Sports Field Parking Area
Please All take note that both ends of the paved and lined parking spaces (on the outside of the last painted lines) are NOT parking spaces and are not to be used as such. (4 in total)
The space is required to allow City of Parksville heavy equipment to be moved in/out of the parking lot.
It is a Traffic Bylaw 2009, No. 1436, Section 17 violation (Parking in Contravention of Painted Parking Lines) and carries a $50.00 fine.
Thanks to City Bylaw Officer Jason Hollister for taking the time to explain this to us.
A Message From the PGOSA Past President
Hello PGOSAns.....hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather here in our little piece of Paradise.
A decent crowd showed up for our recent AGM and one of the key things to carry forward is that the direction will be to break the multitude of Activities required to manage a 1000+ membership group into small pieces with many people taking on a small piece to manage.
The Board currently has vacancies in the President and Vice President executive positions and one or two more Directors would be much appreciated.
The Board holds 5 meetings a year and a Director would manage one or two activities which are already in place---so not an onerous task.
Also, as has been proposed for some time now, we will be setting up dedicated Liaisons between Activity Managers and Board members.
So, if you have a particular Activity that you would like to represent--just let us know and we can arrange to pair you up with a Board member so that you have a direct contact with requests or concerns.
We had positive feedback from the floor at the AGM that this "fracturing" strategy would work much better, as several want to pitch in but not for a major commitment of time and energy.
So, let us know if you can help in a small way and take on a small task or two to assist in managing this wonderful Organization.
Many thanks.
Going forward your Board is as follows
President: vacant Vice President: vacant Treasurer: Keith Goertzen Secretary: Tony Shaw Directors: Doug Williams, Hugh Mitchell, Jim Powell, Rob Jonas, Rodney Arnold Past President: Rob Jonas

We are hoping to start a Bridge group in the fall but need a member to act as the coordinator of the group. This activity would be once a week (day of week and time to be determined) at the Bradley Center on Alberni Highway just before Coombs. Their duties would be to keep regular contact (email) with the players, teach the game to beginners, and create a welcoming environment where members could learn and enjoy the game of Bridge.
If you know the game, would like to host a group of players, please contact Jim Powell at trijim@shaw.ca and discussions could begin in getting a Bridge group started!
