JULY 2021

Squad News for Summer

It finally happened! After a long, long time apart, Squad 10 finally got to meet face-to-face. We held two Squad wanders - one in Manchester, one in Leeds (pictured above) - during which our writers explored, wrote and (most importantly) nattered over lunch. The sun came out especially for the occasion.

Our regular hive of activity has carried on buzzing too. A few highlights for you... Several writers imagined the libraries of the Future, producing exciting new digital work for Manchester's Festival of Libraries, and an anthology from English Heritage had us looking at heritage sites anew. Which, in turn, prompted a number of Squad writers to embark on their own 'Writing the Archive' project with the British Library.

Meanwhile, we've had workshops on Flarf poetry and Arts Council Applications, our reading groups have dived into the likes of sci-fi epistolaries and urgent contemporary sonnets, and our Mini Goals groups have continued to check in with and support each other.

It's been a busy few months, and we're already looking ahead to our Autumn programme. But, before we get ahead of ourselves, we're excited to share our latest news with you. We hope you enjoy it!

- Billie, Squad Administrator
