We only have until WEDNESDAY to collect as much dog food as possible!
If you're an adopter of one of the fabulous "northern dogs" that we take in from our partners in Manitoba, you'll know how incredible and sweet they are. They need our help!
Fires are burning in northern Manitoba and Ontario, and many small Indigenous communities had to be evacuated by plane. Dogs couldn't go - there is simply no room on the planes to get them all out, and no time. Many of them are loved by their owners, who are worried sick.
These dogs are now alone in their communities - no food, and no water. There have been reports already of death from starvation in some locations.
Organizations like our friends at Save A Dog Network Canada (who rescue a ton of our northern pups!) are coordinating rescue flights to get into the communities and feed the dogs, and evacuate the ones most at risk. Residents may not be back allowed back for weeks so potentially a LOT of food is going to be needed.
We are doing a blitz dog food drive to collect food - we only have until Wednesday to get as much as we can, as we have transportation to Winnipeg already secured.
