Venues cropping up,
venues closing down
With all the additional outdoor spaces at restaurants, musicians have more and more gig opportunities —and we have more places to dance. That's dicey when the smoke is this thick, though. There have also been a number of cancelations due to musicians not feeling safe, or musicians or restaurant employees contracting COVID. We pride ourselves on having accurate information, but this is a pandemic in fire season. After you peruse the calendar for where you want to dance, play it safe and call first.
Restaurants have literally closed down for a weekend for lack of staffing. Maybe COVID hit them and they're not saying? But staffing shortages are a serious thing right now. And the servers that restaurants still have working are dealing with extra layers of risk and bad tempers, so please be patient and tip generously.
In the permanently closed category, Local Barrel in Santa Rosa seems to be shuttered. Remember, if you know of new venues we don't have on the calendar or of closed ones, let us know.
Please show your respect and care of others, those who may be at risk, those who will lose their livelihood, those who will bring it home to loved ones, those who care for COVID patients in the hospital, those who can't get adequate or timely medical care because of the hospital overwhelm. Show your compassion and be part of the solution, by getting vaccinated, by masking indoors, and when unable to maintain social distance, masking outside, too. The more we do, the sooner we'll be on the other side of this.
And, as always, thank you so much for the generous support. We continue to see donations trickling in. Kevin has been chained to his computer and especially appreciates the support. As I write this, we're home on a Saturday afternoon, keeping So Co Dance Beat going.
In gratitude,
Kevin and Ann Hutchinson
