Then followed that beautiful season… Summer…. Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape. Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I'm not sure if everyone is feeling this feeling, but I'm feeling it deeply--it is mid-August and we, like the garden vegetables, have a feeling of now now NOW! It all has to be now! Squeeze in a last trip to Tanglewood, check out the Berkshire Buskers in GB, one more trip to York Lake, and don't forget to jump into the Green River! It feels like summer is crescendoing into that final fireworks display of unbridled joy and showiness.

And it is now, while we're a little distracted and running around that our gardens start kicking it up a notch, cranking out the zucchini and cukes and tomatoes and flowers that we dreamed about in May and June.

And it is NOW, not to add to the summer pressure, that we can replace those long ago eaten heads of lettuce or the bolted bok choi, fill in the spot where the garlic used to be, and give ourselves something to look forward to when the sun sets on this summer.

On the tables at Farm Girl Farm @ North Plain Farm, it's all happening--starts for lettuce, arugula, spinach, radishes, salad turnips, carrots, beets, collards, kale, swiss chard and more.

I also tried something new and created a few edible patio pots for peeps who need a mobile garden. I combined some pretty, edible plants for a garden on the go. Come take a look!

The half price table is about to be loaded up with new goodies. Basil, cucumbers, squash, long blooming cold hardy marigolds and more. Addie and I are heading out of town to see family and I want these plants to have a good home now.

Keep on stopping by and keep on planting.

"I lay my sunburnt hand on your table. This is the time we have."
