Teaching Update

Dear <<First Name>>,

I trust that this newsletter finds you well. I want to inform you that we continue to meet once a week at each location, at present however you may have noticed that the days that we teach are occasionally changed. Our aim is to teach Group 2 on Mondays and Group 1 on Wednesdays. However, these days may be modified depending on the weather or other major events taking place in the village. Thank you for your concern and continued support. We appreciate it.

Group one

On Friday August 6th, we did the lesson on Abraham and Isaac, all the way through to Rebekah marrying Isaac and having twins. The family of the compound where we usually meet has moved out to their fields, so they are no longer present. However, everyone who usually attends agreed that we should continue to meet weekly at their place. We are glad for their continued interest in listening to God’s Word.

On Wednesday, August 11th, we taught about Jacob and Esau and up to Joseph being sold as a slave and sent to Egypt. During the lesson, Jakob was able to highlight that God understands that we human beings are not perfect and make mistakes, but that He wants to build a relationship with us and work through us to accomplish His purposes. We had a really good turnout for this meeting and there were also a few people from Leah’s side of the village who attended, which was encouraging since they rarely attend any of the meetings.

Group 2

On Monday August 2nd, we did the lesson on the tower of Babel and an introduction to the story of Abram. This meeting was a bit challenging because there was a lot of noise and disruptions throughout the entire lesson by the children and women. So, it is difficult to say if people were even paying attention or if anyone really understood the lesson.

On Monday, August 9th, we taught again, and did the lesson on God making his covenant with Abraham. There was a really good turnout and the group seemed more settled and focused on listening compared to the previous meeting. There were also a few young children from Leah’s end of the village who also attended.

Prayer Request

Please join us in prayer as we trust God to work in the hearts of those who live on Leah’s side of the village. They have mainly showed no interest in hearing God’s Word until recently. Pray that those who have now decided to attend will motivate the others to come as well. We also plan to share with them a memory card with all the lessons taught thus far. Even if many remain unmoved to attend, pray that they can at least listen to the lessons on their phone or radio.

We are still in the rainy season, but you can continue to pray that there will be no rain during the times that we teach.
