We understand the current restrictions on travel are having a huge impact on the tourism industry, and to help you navigate through it, we will hold a live webinar for our members next Thursday, 19 August from 1:00-1:45pm.

The webinar will be a chance to hear about the current state of play, including how VSC is responding to the ever-changing travel climate with an update from our CEO Matt Stoeckel. Head of Marketing, Kelly Ryan, will share an update on our current and future marketing activities, including ways you can get involved and leverage to boost your business. Membership and Industry Development Manager Andrew Fairbairn will also provide an overview on the current funding and wage support there is available for businesses and employees, as well as trade and industry programs available to help support your business.

More funding made available for Queensland businesses

The Commonwealth and Queensland Governments have reached a 50/50 funding agreement that will see the value of the Queensland COVID-19 Business Support Grants rise from $260 million to $600 million. As part of the package additional support for businesses that have had a decline in turnover of more than 30 per cent will include:

- A $1,000 one-off grant to non-employing sole traders across Queensland

Tiered payments based on payroll size for all businesses across Queensland:
- A $5,000 one-off, top-up grant to small business with payroll of less than $1.3 million
- A $10,000 one-off, top-up grant to medium sized business with payroll between $1.3 million and $10 million
- A $25,000 one-off, top-up grant to large sized tourism and hospitality focused businesses with payroll of greater than $10 million.

This funding is in addition to the State Government’s $5,000 2021 COVID-19 Business Support grants, which opened on Monday.
