This Week's Featured Vendors

Honey Bee Hills Farm
Rain or shine, it's tomato time! We have an awesome bounty of organic tomatoes this week, plus salad mix, peppers, eggplant, squash, cucumbers, melons, and more. You can pre-order on our website every week up through Monday night, or just come see Farmer Liz at market for all your organic goodness. (=)
Perry-winkle Farm
Potatoes continue to be our focus at Perry-winkle Farm, we will have a table full of choices for you this week.  We are partial to the yellow/gold fleshed potatoes because of their versatility in the kitchen.  When we are asked which variety is good for roasting it is easy to recommend any of those varieties.  When folks want a good masher, we point to the pale purple Caribe's with their fluffy white flesh.  We will also have quart boxes of "baby" potatoes with a mix of varieties. We will have coolers full of arugula and basil, pints of our flavorful Sungold cherry tomatoes. Taste ours to see why you will want at least a pint or two of them. Our celosia crop is really coming into its own. We will have "straight bunches" of both the cockscomb and the wheat varieties of celosia at the market along with bunches of gomphrena (globe amaranth) and lisianthus.  There will be a bucket of colorful zinnias and a rack full of mixed bouquets in two different sizes. You can also look forward to a good supply of eggs from Michael's pastured hens. We still need your used egg cartons, bring your gently used 12 packs (ours or grocery store ones). Thank you!
With gratitude,
Mike Perry and Cathy Jones

Beechcrest Farm
It’s been a regular week at Beechcrest, which is to say, boy, do I have a bunch of stories, vignettes and reflections. All the farmers must! I want to check the newsletter’s editorial policy, maybe there could be room for a weekly farm vignette. As beef prices skyrocket due to processor backlogs, our prices have not risen since 2015 and our fine cuts of meat from coddled cattle raised down the road are selling for well below prices charged at Whole Foods and other such groceries, customers have told me. We are eager for you to experience the high quality and flavor of our meat and so this week again we will have the popular sale on two pound packs of ground beef. They usually sell for $14, now they’ll be $10. But seriously, try our fillets! We only have a few packages left from the previous head of cattle. The most recent take has been aged, we’ve just been too busy to get them priced. I hope to see you all. Berel berkadens@gmail.com

Sweet Little Something
Hello friends! I am back in town, checking my son into his university today and back in the kitchen tomorrow so that i can be at the market this Tuesday! Chatham Extension Master Gardeners Volunteers (EMGVs) will be at the market on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Talk to an EMG to get gardening advice, find out about the EMG Program and other Extension offerings, and pick up soil testing supplies. Extension Master Gardeners are local gardeners who volunteer their time and expertise to support Chatham County’s N.C. Cooperative Extension. EMGVs receive intensive training on a wide range of gardening topics and are prepared to answer your gardening questions with research-based, unbiased information from the land-grant university system. Types of gardening questions EMGVs can assist with include:
- What is wrong with my plants and what can I do about it?
- What or when should I plant?
- What is this weed or plant?
- What is that in my soil?
- What is this insect that I found on my plant?
- When should I prune?
Sweet Little Something is back from France!
