Happy August,

Summer is great but If you are feeling burnt out or just plain cranky, you are not alone. The continuing uncertainty takes a toll on our mood and motivation. It's as if we are living in a holding pattern waiting for this thing to be over so we can resume our lives. And it may be that we will have another year of this roller coaster ride. Let's make a pledge to be more intentional about how we use our time. Let's focus on the things we can control: How we show up in the world and treat other people, the foods we choose to put in our body, how we spend our free time, how we care for our home and surroundings.

During uncertain and stressful times, taking care of yourself is essential. You can't be of much use to yourself or anyone else if you are drained. Treat yourself with care. Download our Self-Care Checklist as a check-in to identify areas of your life that you may be neglecting.

As we spend more time at home, many of us are continuing our decluttering journey, I share our blog on dealing with our emotions and the excuses that keep us stuck and hanging on to stuff we really don't want, need or love. Inside the blog, there is a downloadable pdf on "Speaking Back to the Excuses that are Keeping Us Stuck."
There is also a link to our youtube videos - on the same topic.

Still, with a new year ahead (I mark the new year by the school calendar), here's hoping we'll experience this next leg of the journey a little differently - not necessarily in how much we do but in how we think about what we do.

We wish you a lovely intentional August.

Cheers,
Brad and Cathy

Awareness - Knowledge of a Situation and Your Part in It

Organizing School Supplies

Backpacks -
  • Divide your backpack into zones to separate schoolwork, sports gear, lunch, and personal items.
  • Use the size of each backpack section to determine what "lives" there.
  • Prevent the "black hole" phenomena by capturing small items in containers, such as a pencil box.

Lockers -
  • Separate your locker into zones for school materials, sports gear, lunch, personal supplies, and fun items.
  • To maximize vertical space, add an extra shelf.
  • Visit your locker at lunch time to switch between morning and afternoon school supplies, reducing how much you need to carry during the day.
