As you can see below, there are many more opportunities to volunteer, and we appreciate any form of assistance you can offer. We have lots of exciting, new ideas, but we need your help to accomplish our goals.
Audio Visual Director – Seeking a volunteer to set up our monthly meeting equipment. We have a budget to purchase a new sound system, microphones and a computer. We are looking for someone to make it all work together. We would like to have the capability to Zoom in our live meetings for both presenters and guests. If you were that AV geek in high school and have continued developing your nerd skills, you are whom we seek.
Video Camera Operator - Looking for a volunteer to record our monthly meetings, edit the recording and post to a YouTube channel. If this matches your skill set, we would love to have you as part of our team. We have funding for a camera, computer and software, thanks to a recent grant from The Latrobe Fund and we need a volunteer to help us with this project.
Show Chair and Producer for Mother Lode 2022 –Our big event of the year needs a leader. The bones are in place for this event. The venue is booked. We need a show chair to work with the judge, set up for online entries and otherwise take this event from soup to nuts. The 2021 committee will be on tap to help you through your first year. We hope the person who steps into this position will be interested in doing it again in the future. For 2021, we have formed a committee, and have split the job for a few, instead of just one person. Please consider lending a hand.

on Hand Made Dyes
Judi Pettite, Hand Made Dyes
Judi Pettite is an artist and educator working with natural pigments. Her artwork combines a variety of disciplines and scientific fields to more closely examine our relationship with the landscape in a contemporary art practice. She teaches workshops in the U.S. and abroad and produces small batch ink and watercolor under the name BioHue.
"I love foraging and cultivating for my natural inks and paints; if you’re looking to expand your palette, extracts may be the answer. I’ve developed a new line of inks in partnership with Botanical Colors and their extracts. The colors are lush and saturating. I keep the hues as true and clean as possible—never any synthetic preservatives…I only use thyme or clove oil. Inks are water-based and made in small batches."
Join us on Zoom for our General Meeting on Sunday, October 17 @ 1:30pm for Shelly Thorene's photography presentation about how to take photos for art show entries and reference for your art.Thank you Gemma Gylling, for your donation of $75

Kari Uhlman honored as Images of Hope Poster Winner
On June 8, 2020 The Mountain Democrat announced that Images of Hope was looking for a new background image for 2020’s Pink in the Night Awareness Month by contest. Pink in the Night is a month-long cancer-awareness campaign in October. It includes El Dorado County businesses illuminating their store fronts with strands of pink lights (provided by Images of Hope) symbolizing the community’s united fight against cancer.
My mother mailed me the news clipping. She was 86 years old and doesn’t have access to the Internet. She thought I might be interested as I was a 14-year cancer survivor. My dad died of lung cancer over 25 years ago. My mom is a thyroid and skin cancer survivor.
The theme was “All Colors, All Cancers”. So, I headed into Joann’s to purchase the largest canvas I have ever attempted to paint on and my finished product was selected as third place in the poster contest! Bill Robinson collected my piece and professionally photographed it. I felt like royalty.
This year, Images of Hope has planned on using the poster for the 2021 promotions as well.
Please see the attached image of my painting. The original painting, along with many other forms ranging from canvas prints to tote bags, is for sale here. I invite you to please ake a peek and bring some joy to your doorstep!

Images of Hope is Looking for Art Instructors!
Images of Hope is a local organization whose main mission is to create free opportunities where cancer patients, their family members, and caregivers can come participate in art, movement, and meditative therapy. We do that by providing classes to help give folks a respite and a way to express their feelings in art and movement.
Have you taught an art class that you think might work for this? We would love to hear from you. Some classes are weekly, some are once a month, and they are usually anywhere from one to three hours long. We pay instructors for time and materials. The classes are free to El Dorado County residents.
For more information about Images of Hope, visit ImagesofHopeElDorado.org. If you are interested in teaching a class, contact us via email at ioheldorado@gmail.com or call 530-208-9994.
Inside the Artist Studio is a project that started in 2020 during the pandemic when artists and their stories were not being told. This weekly vlog is to bring awareness and excitement around the incredible artists we have here in the Sacramento Metro Area.
Many artists work never gets highlighted in the larger public arena. This project brings the artist to you as we talk about how they got started, when they started, and a little about their process. Many amazing artists started late in life, their studio is their dining table, or they have an unusual process.
New videos released every Monday at 4 pm on The MACC YouTube site, so subscribe and watch as we learn about the amazing creatives here in the Greater Sacramento Metro Area. Click here to watch.
