Monthly Guild Meetings for 2021

The Catholic Medical Guild of Fort Wayne is open to anyone in healthcare and has started monthly meetings for fellowship, prayer, and discussions.  We will be meeting at St Vincent de Paul the third Saturday of each month following the 8:15 Mass which will be approximately 9:00 am. Most meetings will be in the Spiritual Center Room A.

In June we began a short course called "The Purpose and Meaning of Suffering: a Discussion-Based Course for Health Care Professionals". This will be covering Pope John Paul II's Apostolic letter "Salvifici Doloris--On the Christian Meaning of Human Suffering".  Basically the course is designed to help health care workers understand Catholic vision of the purpose and meaning of suffering, which we see every day at work, and learn how to practically provide compassion to our suffering patients.  This was written by Dr. McGovern in 2013 for this guild.

Each month one lesson will be discussed. No reading beforehand is required but reading the short segment of the Apostolic Letter found within the lesson will give you more reflection time than if you wait to read it at the meeting.   Again, this is optional.

For August 21 we will be reading Lesson 3.

Please come even without having looked at the lesson, or at previous lessons. We will have extra copies at the meeting for you if you don't bring it with you. See our  website fortwayne.cathmed.org or call 260-222-6978 for more details or to get on our email list for events.

The Guild encourages all healthcare workers to pray a daily Memorare for the work of the Guild and its members. See prayer to the right.

God, who created man in Your image and intended him to share Your Glory, we thank You for having granted to Your Church the gift of Professor Jerome Lejeune, a distinguished Servant of Life.

He knew how to place his immense intelligence and deep faith at the service of the defense of human life, especially unborn life, always seeking to treat and to cure.  A passionate witness to truth and charity, he knew how to reconcile faith and reason in the sight of todays's world.

By his intercession, and according to Your will, we ask You to grant us the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon become one of Your saints.

MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate! despise not my petitions, but, in thy mercy, hear and answer me.

Amen.
