Virginia State Policy Meeting

SchoolHouse Connection (SHC) is a national organization working across several states to identify state policies that are barriers to success and safety for youth experiencing homelessness. A group of Virginia schools and service providers has approached SHC about working on a campaign to change state policies so that unaccompanied homeless youth under age 18 will be able to consent for medical/dental/behavioral health services, shelter/housing/related services, and driver licenses.  SHC is able to work on this initiative by providing legal and policy support over the next 12-18 months.

Interested in participating in this work?  There will be an open Zoom meeting on August 31, 2021 at 1:00PM for anyone interested in learning more about this effort, the reasons behind it, and how we can work together to help unaccompanied youth access the services they need.
