Class Spotlight
Knitting with Claire
Student Work from All Around the Globe

This spring, AHP Knitter-in-Residence Claire Wagner, known to the community simply as "The Knitter," led her students through the challenging project of knitting their first vest. It was a complex task, but Claire kept her students motivated to the finish! This photo shows a vest made by Kate, from Maryland.

Students also completed other clothing items, like this hat and scarf by Elisabeth from Canada. Elisabeth plans on making many more of these hats for Christmas presents this year.
"I am most grateful for the teaching by a very devoted and kind teacher. [Claire] went the extra mile to provide extra lessons to me to ensure that I could keep up with the class as I joined mid-way and I was a complete beginner."

Claire teaches students how to work with mistakes and to not waste any work. This cushion-turned-bag is one of Lorraine's favorite projects she has knitted.

Lorraine consistently attends Claire's knitting class from the U.K. – despite the time difference! – and has declared herself now a life-long dedicated student of Claire's.

Class resumes September 15! Sign up today.

Movement and Breath Practice
Join AHP Movement Artist-in-Residence Deborah Riley for this 6 minute gentle breath and movement practice based on the Chinese system of Qigong. Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of postures, exercises, breathing techniques, and meditations. Its techniques are designed to improve and enhance the body's energy, "qi".

Forward Forward
The Georgetown Lombardi Arts & Humanities Program (AHP) promotes a holistic approach to healthcare for patients, caregivers, physicians, nurses, staff members, and students through the use of music, dance, expressive writing, and visual arts. These therapeutic modalities are normally provided throughout the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and are now shared virtually. The AHP is a program of the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
