REMINDER:
This coming August 14-15 weekend:
Questa Studio Tour!

Finally it's happening, the long-anticipated 2021 Questa Studio Art Tour! Last year’s tour was cancelled due to the pandemic. Hosting amazing creative and skilled local artists, our tour is ripe to set the trend for northern New Mexico art tours—we are the first of the season!

This year’s tour will feature 45 artists in 15 locations, with 13 multi-artist hubs. Spanning 20 miles, the route starts at the south end of Questa and runs east to the edge of Carson National Forest and north through Sunshine Valley. New hubs have developed and new artists have joined for the 2021 season, and there will be plenty of new works created by your favorite artist from past tours. It will be an exciting event!

WHAT: Questa Studio Art Tour
WHEN: August 14-15, 10-5 both days
WHERE: Questa and areas north along 522
MAPS/BROCHURES: Questa Visitor Center, or ArtQuesta Gallery
COST: Free, but we hope you find art to buy and support our local artists!

Get your map/brochure now at the Questa Visitor Center, at ArtQuesta Gallery, or at the main information booth on the days of the tour, at stop #5. Every hub and studio will have them, too.

The Questa Studio Art Tour is a project of the Questa Creative Council. This project is funded and supported in part by New Mexico Arts, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, and by the National Endowment for the Arts. Further support comes from the Questa Economic Development Fund, the Taos Community Foundation, and The Los Alamos Foundation. We offer our gratitude and thanks to our funders and to you, our local supporters!

We will be following COVID-safe practices, including masks, as recently recommended by NM State Health mandate. Each hub will have masks for you if you don't bring your own.

More information can be found at northernnewmexicoartists.com, or contact Project Director Peggy Trigg at pegtrigg@gmail.com

Art For All workshops are back!

Up to 10 lucky adults or kids (must be over age 12 if without adult supervision) can attend artist and teacher Mark Lewis Wagner's Saturday "Creative Journey" workshops on the 21st and 28th of August. After the Studio Tour, you'll be energized and want to get creating, yourself!.

You can attend both or either one, and no previous art experience necessary. Come engage in the joy of creativity!

Free but donations gratefully accepted, to cover supplies. These workshops are a collaboration between the Questa Creative Council and Mark's own non-profit, Drawing On Earth.

Text Mark to hold your place, at (510) 220-4157.

We will be following COVID-safe practices, including masks, as recently recommended by NM State Health mandate. We will have masks for you if you don't bring your own.

Did you see our booth at the recent Nuevo Mexicano Music Festival in Costilla on July 31? We made new friends
and spread the word about our projects in our villages.

Benita Munez, left, and Ellen Wood, right.

ELLEN: Our booth looked great, my fellow booth-minders were delightful (and good dancers). The venue was crowded with music lovers.

JEANNIE MASTERS: Larry Sanchez organized a parade just before the event. (NOTE: The QCC didn't have the resources to quickly put any decorated vehicle together) We got  the Food Pantry truck in the parade as a showing of participation with the northern communities which we serve. Then we went to man the QCC table with Ellen Wood. It was a great day all told, for everyone involved. Chris Arellano outdid himself putting the Music Festival together, and the Torres Ranch is a great setting.

Chris Arellano is project director for our Northern New Mexico Music: Past & Present event and research. Here's more information on this and access to his recordings and interviews: https://questacreative.org/northern-nm-music/
