Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

• Attention new *and* returning students who haven't taken on-campus classes previously - PVCC is hosting three open house events this week which features campus tours, a student services resource fair, academic advising and financial aid help and getting your student ID & parking pass.  Join us on either today, Monday, August 9 or Tuesday, August 10 between 3-6pm or on Wednesday, August, 11, 9am-12noon.
• Interested in Culinary Arts?  Check out PVCC's Culinary Arts program on either Thursday, August 12 at 4pm or Saturday, August 14 at 10am.  Although this is being held in person at the Jefferson School, please fill out the Orientation Session Form to reserve your spot - space is limited. If you qualify for PVCC4U, it could be FREE to attend this year!
• Valley Health is hosting a Medical Imaging Virtual Open House on Monday, August 16, both from 4-5pm.  Register by clicking on the date but if you can't make that, email hrizzo@valleyhealthlink.com for more information.
• Virginia Career Work's Job Seeker Virtual Workshop on Tuesday, August 10 at 2pm is on Job Search Strategies.  Their Thursday, August 12, Employer of the Week is UVA Temps - this is one of the best ways to get your foot in the door at UVA. Their "hot jobs" last week included Administrative Assistant ($18+/hour), Cashier ($11/hour), Front Door Screener or Saliva Screening Ambassador (both $15/hour) and more!  Register in advance for zoom link.  
• Do you love working with kids and want to make a positive impact in their lives? The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central VA want to talk with you at their hiring event on Thursday, August 12, 3-5pm. They pay $15/hour and the work hours are Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:30pm.
• Are you pursuing a IT program and you're interested in a government career?  The U.S. State Dept.'s Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship program is hosting a webinar on Thursday, August 12 at 2pm.  Register in advance.  If you can't make that webinar, mark your calendar for the Community Colleges for International Development webinar that is specifically for community college students on Wednesday, September 8 at 2pm.
• Grow with Google is offering a number of virtual career development workshops usually held on Tuesdays at 1pm. This week's event (on 8/10) is on Create a Resume that Stands Out.  
• UVA Credit Union provides great financial webinars that are free! One of them is a "Smart Start to College" on Wednesday, August 11 at 1pm.
• Mark your calendar for RoseWood Assisted Living's Hiring Event on Tuesday, August 17, 10am-4:30pm at The Center at Belvedere.  They are hiring CNAs, PCAs, RMAs, Dining Aides and a Maintenance Assistant.
• Interested in a summer 2022 internship with the FBI?  Mark your calendar for one of their information sessions on September 9, 10 or 11.  Space is limited so RSVP soon!

• PVCC would really like to complete our hiring for Security Officers considering students start classes on 8/23.  We also seek part-time Writing Tutors. Both pay $15/hour.
• The Virginia Discovery Museum (on the Downtown Mall) seeks a part-time Front Desk Manager paying $12/hour. Hours will be Thursday-Saturday, 9:15-5:15 and a full-time Gallery Manager.  
• The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central VA needs to hire a large number of After School Youth Development Staff (for Charlottesville, Southwood, James River, Madison & Orange; pay is $15/hour). They also have an Arts Specialist opening paying $20.50/hour (bachelor's degree required).  Be sure to take advantage of their open interviews on Thursday, August 8 between 3-5pm at 1000 B Cherry Ave.
• ReadyKids seeks a part-time STAR Kids Educator paying $17.10 + mileage. You must have your own vehicle. This position requires regular travel to Albemarle, Nelson, Louisa, and/or Fluvanna County multiple days per week.
• Charlottesville City Schools seeks Community Bus Aides (paying $15/hour) who help students safely load and unload from the school bus.
• Albemarle Co. Schools has a number of openings for people who don't have bachelor's degrees:  Afterschool Positions & Substitutes – teachers, assistants, special needs assistants; none require a VA teaching license; hours M-F 2p – 6p; starting pay rate $14.28 - $18.51; positions are located at the elementary schools; Food Service Associates, Managers, & Substitutes – positions are located at all ACPS schools; starting pay is $14.28 - $17.14; most positions are part-time and work 2-4 hours per day, morning until early afternoon. 
• JABA has a number of openings including a part-time M-F daytime LPN/RN, a part-time (M-F, 1-5pm) Receptionist, Preschool Teachers and a Housekeeper (M-F, 2-10pm).
• Qualified Staffing posted a number of positions on College Central Network:  a Retail Associate job that pays $15/hour, an Account Sales Exec. job that pays $25-35,000 PLUS commission and a Registered Nurse job that pays $64-74,000
• HealthBridge is seeking Field Clinicians paying $18+/hour who would initiate their service by onboarding patients in their homes. They are based in Richmond but need Clinicians for the Charlottesville area.
• Loving Arms Care seeks full-time or part-time CNAs/PCAs
• Sentara / MJH would love to talk with you about their hiring process for newly graduating RNs (although that may feel like that's a ways off being May 2022).

• Forge's (formerly HackCville) Launch 2022 paid Internship program for the Summer of 2022 has an application deadline of 9/7/21. This is a fee-based program that also involves skill training but what you earn covers that cost. There are technical, data science and digital marketing internships.

• Qualified Staffing posted a number of positions on College Central Network:  Millwright/Machinist job in Crozet that pays $20-28/hour plus a Machine Operator job that pays $16/hour. There is also a Bagel Shop job in Ruckersville that pays $14/hour and a couple of housekeeping/cleaning jobs that pay $12/hour
• Goodwin William Staffing posted a number of positions on CCN including a Heavy Equipment Operator paying $20-25/hour, Construction Laborer paying $14-17/hour, Pipe Layer paying $18-25/hour, Fulfillment Associates (to work in Ivy) paying $15/hour, Warehouse Associates (to work in Palmyra) paying $11-12/hour, Custodians paying $15/hour, and a Maintenance Assistant paying $15/hour.
• The White Spot Restaurant (on the Corner) seeks part-time or full-time Short Order Cooks and Cashiers paying $15/hour while you're in training and $20/hour afterwards.
