A MESSAGE FROM MR. PAYNE

Good Afternoon Rosenwald-Dunbar Families!  

I hope everyone had a wonderful last weekend of summer before the 2021-2022 school year begins on Wednesday! It was wonderful seeing so many of you for our RDES Main Open House on Thursday. We had a fantastic turnout and we are looking forward to our RDES Annex Open House tonight from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Just as we did for the first Open House, we are asking that students with last names A - L, to attend from 5:30pm to 6:15pm, and last names M - Z come from 6:15pm to 7:00pm. This setup allows for families to move smoothly throughout the Open House. Warner Elementary will also be having Open House on Monday, so we are asking that all RDES families PLEASE park in the Jessamine Early Learning Village or Central Office/JCTC parking lots. In addition to meeting your student’s teacher, you will be able to drop off school supplies in the classroom, as well as get car tags, complete online registration, and get plenty more information regarding transportation, counseling, and the Parent Teacher Organization in the gym.  

I know there are many questions regarding morning and afternoon pick-up and drop-offs at the Annex. Our amazing music teacher, Mr. Schatko has created a very informative video explaining the process in detail. You can view the video here! As you will see in the video, the car line is in the back of the building. For safety and environmental reasons, we are asking that parents not attempt to walk their students in to the building, including the first day of school. We will have many Rosenwald staff members eager to assist students on the first day of school. If you need to enter the building for any reason, you will need to park in the front of the building on the Wilmore Road side to check in.
