Friends and neighbors,

August is here so our students are going back to school and our next Board of Supervisors meeting is on the 17th. We also just celebrated National Night Out, NNO. The D3 Team visited over 60 NNO events across the district. We had an amazing time celebrating our neighborhoods and empowering safety within our community. Click HERE for more photos from NNO 2021.

COVID-19 & FACE COVERING UPDATES - NEW COUNTY REQUIREMENTS

Last week health officials from Santa Clara County and six other Bay Area Counties announced new health orders requiring face coverings for indoor spaces beginning on August 3, 2021. The Orders require all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear face coverings when indoors in public settings, with limited exceptions.

The COVID-19 Delta variant is predominantly infecting unvaccinated people. It has been described as the "pandemic against the unvaccinated", but it is also infecting a small number of those vaccinated, known as "breakthrough cases". Face coverings will protect everyone, and since vaccines continue to protect against severe COVID-19 illness, hospitalizations, or death, we urge everyone to get vaccinated.

The facts are simple - face coverings prevent further spread of this dangerous virus among the vaccinated and unvaccinated. We all need to take this seriously and do our part. Bay Area health officials continue to urge all unvaccinated residents 12 and older to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Click HERE to read the complete press release, and learn more at sccgov.org/cv19order.

Face coverings are one of our most effective tools in this pandemic. Increasing our use of masks is the easiest and best way to protect the health of our community from the Delta variant while still allowing many people to engage in the activities they love,” Dr. George Han, Deputy Health Officer for the County of Santa Clara. “The vaccines have proven that they can effectively prevent severe illness and death, and they are continuing to do so. However, because the Delta variant is transmitted alarmingly easily, including by people who are vaccinated, we need the added protection of masks back into our lives until everyone is able to be vaccinated, especially children.

Santa Clara County has one of the highest vaccination rates for a large county in America, 84.8% receiving their first dose. You truly are doing an outstanding job of getting vaccinated. We're moving forward because you know these requirements protect everyone. The Delta variant is incredibly transmissible and fully vaccinated individuals can in some cases spread the virus. Indoor settings are a higher risk for COVID-19 transmission. Please help us overcome this pandemic and protect the health and safety of our community.

Please get vaccinated. Learn more at SCCFreeVax.org. Currently more than 79% of our community has completed their vaccination, let’s get that to over 90%!
