Painful Bladder Syndrome

Sometimes Mistaken for a UTI

Painful bladder syndrome, also known as Interstitial Cystitis (IC) has symptoms that sometimes mimic a bladder infection. Symptoms may flare up and then disappear for periods of time, but any person with ongoing pain or discomfort in the bladder and pelvic area who needs to use the bathroom frequently, should visit a specialist for diagnosis and proper treatment. Dr. Tessa Krantz is a urogynecologist at Urology Associates and an expert in treating women with IC and pelvic pain. Watch her video where she highlights the common symptoms and many treatments available for Painful Bladder Syndrome.

Dr. Fagelson Named Greenlight Center of Excellence

Greenlight Laser Therapy is a treatment for more advanced enlarged prostate, also known as BPH. Symptoms of BPH, such as urinary frequency, urgency and getting up in the night to go to the bathroom occur in nearly half of all men by age 50. By age 80, close to 90% of men have this common condition. BPH is easily treatable with medications or minimally-invasive procedures such as Greenlight Laser Therapy.

We are proud to announce that Dr. Fagelson has been nationally honored for achieving the highest degree of experience with GreenLight Laser Therapy. Dr. Fagelson’s practice at Urology Associates has been designated as a GreenLight Center of Excellence by Boston Scientific.

It's Time - Schedule Your Prostate Cancer Screening

September is around the corner and it is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. We want to encourage every man over the age of 55 to set aside time to schedule a PSA screening, if you haven't done so yet or it has been more than two years since your last test. This simple blood test has virtually no risks and saves live. Do you know -
  • The risk for prostate cancer steadily rises after age 50.
  • Having a brother or father who has had prostate cancer, more than doubles a man’s chance of getting it and you may need to consider getting tested earlier.
Talk to a urologist to get the facts and find out what is right for you.
