Who is the Wealthiest Generation?

A variant of this chart often goes viral on Twitter, however upon adjusting for wealth per capita, we get this chart from Jeremy Horpedahl.
While popular notion might be that younger generations don't earn enough, don't know the value of money much and splurge, this chart suggest otherwise.

Gen X(1965-1977) is now 30% richer than Boomers(1946-1964) were at the same age (late 40s) and Millennials(1983-1996) are tracking Gen X almost exactly and therefore would exceed Boomers as well when they are in their late 40s (~ year 2037). Not only just this, contrary to popular imagination it won't be surprising if Millennials when they are in their 40s will surpass GenX in wealth.Additionally, it won't be surprising if Gen Z(1997-2012) surpass Millennials.

What do you think could be the reasons for this?
